Lake Hopatcong Adventure Company is part of the Live the Lake NJ Family of businesses. Together, they comprise a group of unique experiences and locations around Lake Hopatcong. The adventure company in particular lets guests explore the most exciting parts of the area. Adventurers will also come across both landmarks and pockets of hidden beauty on and off the water.

“We love showcasing the natural beauty of Lake Hopatcong, and seeing the memories guests create with us,” says Patty Chinelli. She is the general manager for Lake Hopatcong Adventure Company. “The smiles are so rewarding,” she adds.
The Lake Hopatcong Adventure Company believes nature is even more enjoyable with friends and family. That’s why they offer custom group adventures based on each group’s goals and definition of “fun.” Every experience is designed to help adventurers make lasting memories. Private tours are available for larger groups.
All experiences are provided through guided tours. “Everything is better with a guide,” Patty says. “Safety in numbers is important. We provide the ability to explore while keeping guests’ safety in mind.”
Popular Adventures
Water tours are the most popular service that Lake Hopatcong Adventure Company provides. In fact, the 30- or 60-minute hydrobike tours are so popular that they went viral in 2022 and 2023. “All our water tours are an adventure,” Patty explains. “Each offer a different experience on the beautiful lake.”
Patty’s favorite tour is the Hobe Mirage Pedalboard. During the 30-minute hydrobike or pedalboard tour, groups take a trip to Halsey Island, Great Cove, or Main Lake Market. (Keep an eye out for bald eagles). For the 60-minute version of the tour, they go from Nolan’s Point to either Raccoon Island or Halsey Island.
Lake Hopatcong Adventure Company hosts a daily hike and bike ride at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. They also host day camps with water tours and mini golf for local camps, schools, and businesses.

Future plans include growing the business by adding more equipment and more non-powered vehicles on the lake. “That makes it so any skill level can join,” Patty says.
Lake Hopatcong Adventure Company is a family business that’s been open since spring 2018. In fact, Patty grew up in the area and attended the local high school. She often visits The Windlass, a restaurant on the lake and one of NJ’s Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants. “I grew up on the lake. It’s a beautiful lake to live on and explore. It’s NJ’s largest lake, hidden in the highlands of NJ,” she says. “There’s a great atmosphere—restaurants, water spots, hiking.”
