Andre’s Lakeside Dining
Where: 112 Tomahawk Trail, Sparta
Details: This Asian and French fusion restaurant sits just 20 feet from Seneca Lake. Andre’s Lakeside Dining is a serious triple threat, offering great food, top notch service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Outdoor dining is available from their patio and covered front porch, as well as right on the grass. The latter offers a true waterfront experience about as close to the water as possible. Meanwhile, the seasonal menu features fruits and herbs from their garden, as does the non-alcoholic drink menu. (Andre’s is BYO.) Popular entrees range from grilled orange duck or salmon with charred napa to steak Diane with fondant potato. They also serve rotating desserts like creme brulee, olive oil cake, and flourless chocolate cake.
Why I Like it: Coming up with a new menu weekly is tough, but Chef André deWaal aces it.

Bloomfield Steak & Seafood House
Where: 409 Franklin St, Bloomfield
Details: This family-owned spot uses organic and locally sourced greens and produce in their dishes. They specialize in steak and seafood, as well as burgers, ribs, and craft cocktails. New to the menu are vegan dishes like the vegan “crab cake”; which comes with corn salad and homemade herby coconut yogurt dipping sauce. Signature items include their Pan Seared Filet Mignon and Bayside Seafood Pasta with scallops, lump crab and shrimp. Their Prime Grade Bone In Ribeye (served as-is or “Cowboy Style”) is also a hit. Outdoor dining is first come first serve, and they host live music every Thursday and Saturday. Plus, Happy Hour is 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm Tuesday to Friday, offering everyone half priced drinks and appetizers.
Why I Like it: Even with such an expansive menu, Bloomfield excels at both land and sea-based entrees.

Draught House
Where: 268 NJ-31, Washington
Details: As “Washington’s only beach,” the Draught House’s outdoor Boat Bar is a summertime oasis boasting sand and patio chairs. The restaurant serves drink specials and hosts live entertainment outside six days a week during the summer. In addition, they run three full bars on weekends, with a drink selection that includes 52 beers on tap. Their menu with pub favorites like Reuben Poppers, nacho platters, and Homemade pretzels completes the casual, fun vibe. Beyond the Boat Bar, the Draught House now offers their signature experience on the road. The Draught House Food Truck is a 30′ trailer with a “fully outfitted, state-of-the-art mobile kitchen” inside. It’s perfect for parties, private events, and more.

Long Valley Pub & Brewery
Where: 1 Fairmount Rd, Long Valley
Details: The Long Valley Pub & Brewery — or Long Valley Brew Pub — built in 1771, is inside a 250-year-old barn. This fully restored barn offers a full menu of American cuisine classics, plus a few modern twists. Fan favorites include the Country Mac & Cheese, Bacon Pierogies, and the Barbecue Baby Back Ribs. They also have a small section of German dishes, including Sauerbraten and Schnitzel & Spaetzle. As for the outdoor dining component of Long Valley Brew Pub, they have a full outdoor bar and spacious patio. While dining on the patio, guests can enjoy Long Valley’s selection of beer. The brew pub’s recipes of beers have been a favorite for locals and travelers alike. They also offer the option to take home Growlers.
Why I like it: The pub is at the foot of Schooley’s Mountain, which offers plenty of activities to enjoy in the surrounding quaint rural area.

Son Cubano
Where: 40-4 Riverwalk Pl, West New York
Details: Son Cubano strives to provide excellent service in a glamorous atmosphere. It’s a unique way to enjoy the food, sights, and sounds of the Cuban lifestyle. Dine on fine cuisine that fuses Cuban, American, and Asian fare while taking in beautiful NYC views. In particular, Son Cubano’s expansive patio offers stunning looks out over the Hudson River and across the New York Skyline. Patrons love their signature “Ropa Vieja” Short Rib, which comes with roasted sweet peppers, red onion pearls, scallions, and rice; as well as their Paella and Lobster “Reyes” dishes. VENTANAS Restaurant & Lounge

Details: Ventanas is nestled inside the luxury high-rise apartments known as “The Modern” in Fort Lee. Their menu is designed by culinary pioneer and celebrity chef David Burke, blending American, Asian, and Cuban cuisine. (Not unlike Son Cubano, another of Burke’s ventures.) This restaurant and lounge offers brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks, sushi, and dessert. Menu highlights include interesting fusion cuisine such as Salmon Teriyaki Udon, Octopus Kabobs, and Lobster Dumplings; all of which can be enjoyed from the gorgeous patio surrounded by lush greenery and modern decor. Even the desserts are unique and creative, with options like Apple Caramel Tacos, Pina Colada Flan, and Churros & Donuts.
Why I Like it: Inventive cuisine like the Shrimp & Beef Filet Teriyaki Udon Noodles make VENTANAS a must-try.

1776 by David Burke
Where: Morristown
Details: Despite the name, 1776 is actually a modern and hip dining experience that also boasts a TopGolf Swing Suite. The restaurant focuses on seasonal foods, with a focus on seafood, sushi, and meats. Their outdoor patio, known as the “1776 Patio on the Green” offers an exclusive menu. It features signature Chef David Burke options such as the DB Lobster Roll, Clothesline Bacon, as well as decadent desserts. They also host live music.
Battello
Where: Jersey City
Details: Battello presents fine Italian dining in a space that blends industrial and luxury design aesthetics. They offer curated lunch, brunch (on weekends), dinner, drinks, and dessert. Signature dinner menu items include the ricotta gnocchi and chipotle glazed eggplant, but brunch has some highlights as well. Some favorites are the Lobster Roll, Crabby Patty, and Croque Monsieur. Black River Barn

They also offer soups, sauces, and dressings to take home by the pint, quart, or bottle. Meanwhile, their signature Moo-tinis include the Star’s and Stripes and By The River Martini. Of course, outdoor dining on the patio/deck at this spot includes a view of Black River Pond.
Cafe Chameleon
Where: Bloomingdale
Details: Cafe Chameleon’s menu exemplifies the phrase “good things come in small packages”. The laser-focused menu offers carefully curated signature dishes such as Wild Boar Ragu, Roasted Octopus, and Smoked Salmon Carbonara. Casa Bella

HAVEN Riverfront Restaurant

Details: HAVEN sits on the banks of the Hudson River, offering NYC skyline views. In addition to the view, the restaurant boasts a large modern patio that’s just 20 feet from the river. Their expansive menu includes brunch (every weekend), lunch, dinner, drinks, and dessert. We recommend the seafood risotto for dinner, followed by the salted caramel & vanilla ice cream sundae for dessert. But it’s hard to top scallops for brunch paired with a skyline view.
The Highlawn

Details: The Highlawn offers an incredible panoramic view of the New York City skyline. Even better, there are three places to enjoy their outdoor dining. Patrons can dine on the main floor patio, upper patio, or upper terrace. They offer lunch (Chicken Milanese), dinner (Branzino), and Sunday brunch (Breakfast Pizza) menus, as well as plenty of drinks. Plus, the gorgeous, versatile venue is as perfect for weddings as it is for evening dinners with friends.
Mattar’s Bistro
Where: Allamuchy
Details: The outdoor dining at Mattar’s Bistro wraps around nearly the entire building. They have a patio and heated veranda that extends around the restaurant, allowing for ample seating. In terms of menu, the eclectic options include sushi and a raw bar, salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza, steak, and seafood; with popular dishes such as Shrimp and Scallop Risotto, Short Ribs, Roasted Vegetable Pizza, and Grilled Cajun Chicken sandwiches.
Molos

Details: This seafood restaurant sits right on the Hudson river, fusing Mediterranean and Greek cuisine into one waterfront experience. The interior of Molos has two floors, the main dining room and an upstairs for private dining. The main dining room features floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the New York skyline. Meanwhile, the second floor seats up to 120 guests for parties, weddings, and more. Outdoor dining takes place on their spacious deck.
Pier 115

Details: Pier 115 offers views from the west bank of the Hudson River. Their outdoor dining deck offers a lunch or dinner experience right on the water. Waterside Restaurant

Details: Waterside is an upscale venue that typically hosts weddings, as well as corporate and social events. The Frog and The Peach

Details: Chef Owner Bruce Lefebvre and Executive Chef Joseph Beninato present innovative American cuisine in a sleek, historic building. For 2023, The Frog and The Peach is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Their menu sources local ingredients, with a focus on agriculture and fishing. They serve lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, as well as a tapas happy hour menu. Dinner highlights include Black Truffle Ricotta Gnocchi, “always local” dayboat Sea Scallops, and a seasonal Long Island Duck preparation. Unique to the lunch menu are 2 options of Tacos (one vegetarian), served in house-made flour tortillas. Beverage director and Maitre d’, Alejandro Alvarez, curates signature Mezcal and Tequilas for their rotating cocktail menu.
Why I Like it: They prepare a unique 5-course seasonal tasting menu with wine pairings for each course.

Lambertville Station

Details: Lambertville Station boasts fine dining, an herb garden, and a wine cellar with 50+ boutique wines. Popular starters include lobster and crab bisque, short rib tacos, and their margherita flatbread pizza. Likewise, entree highlights range from teriyaki salmon to Filet Mignon and Lancaster chicken. As for the view, the Restaurant and Inn is right on the bank of the Delaware River. Of course, they offer guest lodging plus seasonal Al Fresco dining with enchanting views of the water. (Along with comfortable dining on their lush terrace.) Other standout features of Lambertville Station include a Wine Cellar with over 50 boutique wines and their famous Sunday Brunch. Orchard Park by David Burke

Details: Orchard Park by David Burke is already a popular spot for drinks, dinner, and social events. But thanks to the addition of their Orchard Terrace, they can also offer exquisite outdoor dining. The terrace features lounge areas, tables, a full bar, and outdoor fireplaces, as well as the full indoor menu. Menu highlights include the Scallops & Octopus “Veracruz”, Wild Mushroom Cavatelli, and Burke’s signature Clothesline Bacon appetizer. In addition, their extensive wine list includes whites, reds, rose, and sparkling wines. Rat’s Restaurant

Details: The outdoor dining experience at Rat’s Restaurant is truly unique; that’s because this French eatery is nestled inside Grounds for Sculpture, a sprawling 42-acre sculpture park and museum. Equal parts exotic and peaceful, the view boasts gorgeous gardens, eye-catching sculptures, and impressive man-made ponds. As for the elephant — or should we say rat — in the room, Rat’s Restaurant is named after Ratty. This is a character from the classic children’s book, The Wind in the Willows. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner, and dessert. Their lunch menu includes options like the French Dip Sandwich, while dinner boasts entrees such as the Roasted Duck Breast. Check out the Apple Brown Butter Cake dessert.

The Armory

Details: The Armory sits right along Perth Amboy’s historic waterfront. But that’s not all, as this spot offers a beautiful view of the Raritan Bay as well as Staten Island. The interior is also unique, being inside a completely restored naval ammunition building. Menu-wise, The Armory specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, with lunch and dinner options. They serve everything from shrimp, crabs, clams, and calamari to pork chops, steak, lamb, and a Rodizio Platter.
Erini Restaurant
Where: Ewing
Details: Erini offers lovely outdoor patio dining for lunch or dinner, which includes greenery, a tiki bar, and more. Both the laid-back atmosphere and top notch Mediterranean menu make Erini a favorite spot for locals. They have a dedicated Gluten-Free menu, in addition to limited multi-course menus for groups (ideal for social events). Dinnertime favorites include the Raspberry Baked Brie appetizer, French Onion Soup Gratin, and Baked Stuffed Shrimp entree.
The Irving Social

Details: The Irving Social is a bit of everything. The menu offers “American gourmet comfort food” while the vibe is equal parts cozy Inn and upscale bar. They offer specialty cocktails such as Uptown Girl or Shook Me All Night Long; the latter mixes Mezcal, Cherry Heering, Carpano Punt e Mes, blood orange, and lemon. Their drink list also includes beer, wine, scotch, rye, and bourbon. Try their Lobster Sourdough BLT off the Signature Plates menu.
Ninety Acres

Details: Ninety Acres is the New American farm-to-table restaurant at the Natirar estate. (The entire property spans over 400 acres.) The restaurant serves dinner, drinks, and dessert options from their interior bar and dining room; and also provide outdoor dining options on their spacious patio, complete with fire pit and scenic greenery. Ninety Acres features unique, tasty menu items like Steak Tartare, Black Winter Truffle Pizza, and Squid Ink Campanelle.
Patriot’s Crossing Tavern & Wine Shop
Where: Titusville
Details: The name behind this tavern and wine shop comes from its location, overlooking the Delaware River. (The river General George Washington famously crossed during the Revolutionary War.) Of course, the restaurant serves American food classics like burgers, wings, and loaded nachos. But they also offer unique specials like Lamb Gyro, Cajun Gumbo, and homemade fish sticks. Plus, their Liquor Store conveniently offers wine, beer, and spirits.
The Witherspoon Grill
Where: Princeton
Details: The Witherspoon Grill is one of the few entries on this list that offers pet-friendly outdoor dining. In particular, they allow well-behaved dogs to join their human companions on the patio and surrounding plaza seating. Chef Alejandro De Casenave prepares a classic American menu at this steakhouse, which also features poultry and seafood. The lunch menu includes their BBQ Short Rib Sandwich, but dinner features items like Jumbo Shrimp Scampi.
Jersey Shore
Chef Mike’s ABG

Details: Executive Chef Mike Jurusz is bringing sexy (food) back at Chef Mike’s ABG (Atlantic Bar & Grill). This beachfront restaurant — now celebrating its 10-year Anniversary — boasts outdoor dining tables that sit on the sand. Seafood lovers can enjoy starters like lobster mac and cheese, then move on to the peppercorn crusted ahi tuna. Chef Mike’s also offers a raw bar with blue point oysters, middle neck clams, and colossal shrimp cocktail. The menu further features a number of popular soups, such as ABG’s Famous Creamy Crab Bisque. Dessert options include Tres Leches Cake, Key Lime Pie, and even Vanilla Creme Brulee. Freddy J’s Bar & Kitchen
Where: 5698 Somers Point Rd, Mays Landing
Details: Freddy J’s is big on BBQ, beer, & bourbon, a few things synonymous with outdoor dining. They are closed on Mondays, but the rest of the week offers plenty of lunch, dinner, and drink options. Start off with favorites like the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Short Rib Grilled Cheese, or Jalapeno Pepperoni Flatbread. For those looking for a light snack, they offer small plates like pork belly bites. Freddy J’s also has a monthly dinner club and killer Sunday Brunch menu; offering favorites like the Brunch Burger, Shrimp & Grits, and Chef’s Special Pancakes.
Why I Like it: They did a great job designing a cute, cozy, & pet-friendly outdoor dining area.

Parker’s Garage & Oyster Saloon
Where: 116 Northwest Ave, Beach Haven
Details: Parker’s Garage is a throwback to a time they consider to be Beach Haven’s “Golden Era,” the early 1900s. This is when original owner Ellis Parker first opened a combination houseboat rental/restaurant and eventual boat engine repair shop. Today, nestled right along the water and offering views of Parker Island, Parker’s Garage invites families to travel through time. Patrons can park in a nearby public boat slip, enter the Oyster Saloon, and enjoy a menu brimming with seafood. We recommend the Lobster & NY Strip combo or Rock Shrimp Pappardelle from the Garage Classics section of the menu. The outdoor dining at this Oyster Saloon takes places on their deck, with reservations available.

Rooney’s Oceanfront Restaurant

Details: Just steps from the beach, Rooney’s brings you a picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean. A large bi-level outdoor deck with custom décor offers a sense of closeness to the sea. The Boatyard

Details: The Boatyard isn’t actually a restaurant. Instead, it is a Marina and literal boatyard for rentals and docking that also serves food from food trailers. They have two stationary, seasonal food trucks here, one with a seafood menu and another with American classics. The options include lobster rolls and Mahi Sandwiches as well as hot dogs, mini sliders, and chicken fingers. But it’s all outdoor dining, with a view of Manahwakin Bay and lots of boats.
Charlie’s of Bay Head
Where: Bay Head
Details: Charlie’s of Bay Head provides outdoor dining from both their deck and lakeside patio; either option at this two-story American restaurant offers a view of Twilight Lake. The menu famously features an carefully-curated list of global wines. Meanwhile, the menu features lunch, dinner, dessert, and Sunday Brunch options. Highlights include the Grilled Lamb Lollipops, Butternut Squash Pizza, 48-Hour Short Rib, and Lemon Meringue Cheesecake.
Deauville Inn

Details: The large outdoor dining deck at Harbor View is so popular, it has its own menu. Popular starters include the Baked Crab Rangoon Dip, Fried Clam Strips, and BBQ Baked Scallops.
