D’Boathaus Offers Dock & Dine American Cuisine in Hewitt

A restaurant’s name is meant to be different and memorable. That’s what the owners of D’Boathaus in Hewitt are hoping for when diners visit their contemporary American restaurant. From sandwiches to seafood and steak, their team prepares a menu that focuses on locally-sourced ingredients.

The 3,155-square foot eatery seats 75 diners. D’Boathaus offers a “contemporary space with nice lake views and open-air seating facing the lake,” says Co-owner Christopher Leahy. The design incorporates many skylights, a long bar with windows overlooking the lake, and six televisions throughout the interior. There’s also an outside bar, and seasonal outdoor seating for 40 guests on a deck overlooking the lake.

Dinner with a View

The deck at D’Boathaus features retractable awnings and plans to add outdoor heaters for colder temperatures. The restaurant offers free valet parking mid-May through mid-October on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays. For all other times, there is self parking. They encourage customers to arrive by boat and dock in one of 30 free restaurant-designated, in-water boat slips.

Meanwhile, the menu boasts modern American options including salads, soup, seafood, chicken, steak, and burgers. Popular menu items include steamed clams with chorizo and tomato broth, and the Arctic char over spinach. Other fan favorites are the trofie pasta with shrimp and shiitake mushrooms, and the St. Louis BBQ Ribs. It’s a tough call, but Christopher says the skirt steak and roasted chicken are his favorites. They can create a catering menu for offsite events as well.

The full bar at D’Boathaus has six beers on tap. The drink menu also includes cocktails, spirits, wines, and craft beers.

About The Restaurant

Prior to becoming D’Boathaus, the space has seen many iterations. First, it was the Lakeside Inn restaurant in the 1960s and 1970s, then an empty storage building until 2014. Shortly after, it became a bar and lounge called Latitude 41. After the lounge’s closing, the current owners took over and completely renovated the space.

Christopher built and co-owns D’Boathaus with his wife, Maria Rowena Manalo. The couple also owns Sportsmans Marina and Sportsmans’ Moosehead Marina, both on Greenwood Lake in Hewitt. They thought a restaurant would be a great addition to the lake.
