On Saturday, June 11, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Frankie Edgar is hosting the grand opening for his new UFC GYM in North Brunswick. Edgar, a New Jersey native who is currently ranked second in the UFC Featherweight class, is attending the gym’s opening alongside fellow UFC athletes Matt Hughes, Eddie Alvarez, Edson Barboza, Renzo Gracie, and Rafael Natal.
Those who attend the grand opening get the chance to watch and participate in various demonstrations and seminars throughout the day. The event kicks off with a Grand Opening Daily Ultimate Training (DUT) class from 9:00 am – 10:00 am with Yannick Hunte. There is also a 9:00 am Youth Wrestling Seminar with Mike Mahr.

From 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Edgar is scheduled to teach a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Striking Seminar. Immediately afterwards, Ultimate Class Demonstrations include sessions centered around Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, mixed martial arts, daily ultimate training, and youth training, all of which will be offered at the UFC GYM.
Hughes is expected to host an MMA Grappling Seminar at 11:30 am, followed by a UFC Athlete Meet & Greet at 12:30 pm. Natal closes the day with an Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Seminar from 2:00 pm -3:00 pm as the final scheduled demonstration.
According to the gym’s website, “Through exclusive access to UFC athletes, ongoing analysis of their training and nutrition regimens, and their incorporation as program advisors and coaches, UFC Gym makes elite training available to everyone.”
