Salinas Café & Restaurant Brings Latin Flair to Red Bank

One of the latest additions to the Red Bank dining scene is Salinas Café & Restaurant. You’ll find this cozy eatery in the Galleria section of town (it replaces the West Side Café). The 1,600-square foot space seats 45 indoors, and offers American and Italian Cuisine with a Latin touch. Meanwhile, the four sidewalk tables outside can seat about 16 people.

“Our café incorporates the antique style of the building and a bit of modern touch,” says co-owner René Salinas; he runs Salinas Café & Restaurant with his sons, René Jr. and Oscar. René Sr. has over 30 years of experience running two local restaurant kitchens. “Our restaurant is a nice and quiet place to dine in with the entire family,” he adds. They also host private parties on weeknights.

Salinas Café Infuses American and Italian Meals with Latin Flavor

The location did not have a large kitchen at first; but after redesigning the space Salinas Café & Restaurant is now able to serve a full menu. In fact, food is made from scratch daily. The menu consists of Italian, American comfort, Mediterranean, and their own Salvadoran food. They also serve Latin-American dishes as monthly specials. For instance, the Salinas Tequila Chicken is an original dish guests at René’s previous restaurants will know. This dish comes in their signature tequila creamy sauce with peppers, onions, jalapenos, and rigatoni pasta. Likewise, their Chicken Francaise and Tuna Al Ajillo are big hits. “The Al Ajillo sauce is a taste you must try,” René says.

In a nod to their culture, Salinas Café also serves a few types of pupusas. These are thick, handmade corn tortillas, stuffed with cheese and combined with other options like veggies or fried pork. Other highlights include seafood paella and meat options like Jack Daniels’ steak and carne asada, as well as short ribs.

You can visit Salinas Café & Restaurant at 2 Bridge Avenue, Suite 311 in Red Bank. Look for them online to find their hours, menu, and other details.
