Details: Bradley Bake Shop is a one-stop-shop for allergen-free cakes. As she says, Owner Eleanor Bradley doesn’t make gluten-free treats, she makes treats that happen to be gluten-free. Her assortment of 6″ cakes and cupcakes include dairy-free, vegan, keto, sugar-free, and gluten-free options. Besides cakes, she sells banana pudding, brownies, butter milk biscuits, cheesecakes, cookies, corn muffins, empanadas, pies, ice cream, and more. Eleanor ships nationwide, and offers pickup from her shop as well.


Isaura Bakery

Safe For: Gluten-Free + Peanut-Free
Where: Hawthorne
Details: Isaura Bakery is gluten-, peanut-, and nut-free. They also have a number of dairy-free products to round out the menu. The bakery uses the highest-quality natural and organic ingredients to create gourmet treats in small batches. In particular, their fan-favorite breads — most of which are gluten-free and vegan — are delicious. This includes french and sourdough rolls, as well as blueberry, everything, and cinnamon raisin bagels. Of course, their selection of custom specialty cakes (including Death by Chocolate) are equally popular.


Mo’Pweeze Bakery

Safe For: No Cross Contamination of Top 10 Allergens
Where: Rockaway
Details: This small, family-owned bakery makes kosher, vegan concoctions free of animal products and the top ten main allergens. They can even craft custom treats to accommodate additional dietary preferences. The name comes from the owner’s child, Maddox. After tasting his first allergen-free treat, he said “Mo, pweeze!” (meaning “More please!”) Mo’Pweeze has cupcakes, cakes, cookies, brookies (our favorite!), breads, muffins, pies, and more. Guests can stop in for a treat or order online and take advantage of nationwide shipping.


Starseed Bakery

Safe For: Gluten-Free / Dairy Free / Soy Free
Where: Rockaway
Details: In addition to being gluten-, dairy-, soy-, and GMO-free, Starseed Bakery is a peanut-free facility. They also offer a selection of vegan, paleo, and sugar-free treats. As a result, Starseed can basically handle any food allergy. Their menu includes breads, bagels, muffins, cakes, cupcakes, pies, cookies, brownies, brookies, and seasonal and holiday options. (This includes custom Gluten-Free cakes for special occasions.) They offer online ordering for pickup or shipping, and are always stocked with plenty of treats for walk-ins.


Sweet Avenue Bake Shop

Safe For: Dairy-Free / Vegan
Where: Rutherford
Details: Though Sweet Avenue avoids using nuts, they cannot claim to be 100% nut-free. This is because some of their raw ingredients are processed in a facility that also processes nuts. But they can guarantee their products are vegan and dairy-free. They also offer gluten-free and soy-free treats, all made with separate bowls and spatulas to avoid cross contamination. Cakes, cupcakes, cake truffles, and cookies are their most popular specialty items, and they offer a wide array of flavors. We also recommend their custom candies and chocolates.


Taste Buddy

Where: Short Hills
Details: Taste Buddy is a 100% gluten-free store with everything baked freshly in-house. Their drink options include juices, smoothies, coffee, and tea. Owners Angie and Alexa delight patrons with Celiac disease thanks to their assortment of breads and pastries. The menu features focaccia, baguettes, scones, pies, cake pops, cupcakes, cake, cookies, brownies, and bars. They offer vegan baked goods as well. Their fresh and hot-out-of-the-oven breads are a big hit with patrons. Our favorite item? The Challah Bread Pudding.


The Little Daisy Bake Shop

Safe For: Peanut- and Tree Nut-Free
Where: Montclair
Details: Everything at The Little Daisy is baked from scratch. The menu features a mix of year-round and seasonal cupcakes, cookies, bars, and Daisy Dips (cake pops). Seasonal cupcakes include lemon, funfetti, and peppermint, while limited time cookies range from Ginger Molasses to Triple Chocolate. Their scones are also a big hit, baked fresh daily in flavors like butterscotch, chocolate chip, lemon poppy, and more. It’s impossible to recommend just one thing, so we’re picking two: The Oreo Bars and Snickerdoodle cookies.

Cheesecakes from Two Fields Bakeshop

Details: This one-of-a-kind haven of sweets is New Jersey’s dedicated vegan ice cream shop and bakery. They specialize in ice cream cakes, chocolate confections, and cookies. Everything Fable Creamery makes is completely gluten-free and vegan. On top of that, they avoid using soy, gums, and artificial colors and flavors in any of their products. Standout cookies include the white chocolate macadamia nut and double chocolate sea salt. Likewise, we’re big fans of the peanut butter brownies and Maple Butter Pecan ice cream (sweetened with maple syrup).


Kizbee’s Kitchen

Safe For: Gluten-Free
Where: Egg Harbor City | Ocean City
Details: Kizbee’s is all about raising expectations for what’s possible with allergen-friendly baking. They are always 100% gluten-free, with a number of soy-free and vegan options as well. Their ultimate goal is to develop pastries that taste just as good — if not better — than their traditional counterparts. The menu changes regularly, but there is always an assortment of cupcakes, cookies, muffins, quiches, and cakes. Rotating items include cinnamon rolls, cheesecake bars, homemade pop tarts, donuts, pies, and a cake of the month.


No Whey Bake Shop

Safe For: No Cross-Contamination of Top 10 Allergens
Where: Howell
Details: No Whey avoids so many allergens, it’s a miracle they are able to bake anything at all. Specifically, their popular treats are made without using milk, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, eggs, shellfish, or sesame. The shop is also vegan and kosher, and avoids using any artificial colors or flavors. Besides baked goods, No Whey creates signature candies that are equally allergen-free. This includes their own, original takes on M&Ms (No No’s) and Twix Bars. We also love their tasty take on Hostess-style cupcakes with cream filling.


Papa Ganache

Details: If this bakery sounds familiar, their claim to fame dates back to 2013. That’s when the bakery won $10,000 by claiming the top prize in The Food Network’s popular Cupcake Wars competition. Nowadays, the small batch shop is a go-to source for gluten-free, egg-free, plant-based desserts and specialties. This includes cake pops, cheesecakes, baby mason jars, pies, tarts, specialty cakes, and of course, their signature cupcakes. They have over 15 cupcake flavors to choose from, but our favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough.


South Jersey


GF Sweeties

Safe For: Gluten-Free / Dairy-Free / Peanut-Free / Vegan
Where: Haddon Township
Details: A dedicated gluten-free bakery, GF Sweetie’s also offers vegan, peanut-free, and dairy-free options as well. This micro bakery makes everything in small batches using premium ingredients. They offer pickup and nationwide shipping, plus a selection of sweets through their retail store inside the SoHa Arts Building. Their menu includes cakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, vegan cinnamon sugar donuts, pies, mini apple cakes, and more. Cookie lovers simply have to try the Caramel Pretzel Chocolate Chip cookies.


Nola B’s Gluten Free

Safe For: Gluten-Free
Where: Bordentown
Details: The name says it all at Nola B’s, a trusted South Jersey source of gluten-free goodies. Daily menu items include assorted muffins, bars, scones, cake slices, cupcakes, biscotti, and cheesecake. On top of that, the bakery typically has daily specials ranging from cream puffs to angel food cake. Their gluten-free dinner rolls are a popular choice to take home. They also have a selection of pantry and gift items they curate from local gluten-free bakers. Our favorite seasonal special is far and away the apple cider donuts available every fall.
