Naan is a leavened Indian flatbread that originated over 2,500 years ago. Today, it most often accompanies gravy-based dishes in Indian cuisine. It is also the namesake behind Naan Indian Bistro, a new Indian restaurant at the Moorestown Mall. This fining dining spot aims to offer a modern culinary experience new to South Jersey.
The 3500-square foot Naan Indian Bistro seats up to 76 patrons. “Our interior décor is strikingly modern and upscale with a cozy and inviting vibe,” says General Manager Hayden Auguste. Meanwhile, outdoor sidewalk cafe seating is seasonal and seats up to 48 guests. In terms of location, the team believes the mall is a great fit. “We wanted to be convenient for our guests in South Jersey and Philadelphia; and we felt that the Moorestown Mall was the perfect spot to help us accomplish that,” Hayden says.

Inventive Indian Cuisine
Naan Indian Bistro is a fine dining Indian restaurant that offers a modern interpretation of traditional dishes and cuisine. For instance, they combine “modern flavors and cooking methods with traditional recipes,” Hayden explains. All “whilst taking a holistic approach on Indian food and fine dining.”
In particular, Hayden says they use ancient Indian heritage plus recipes with spices that have immense medicinal and healing benefits; then “combine them with modern dining aspects and bold flavors.”
Popular menu items at Naan Indian Bistro include the Crispy Spinach Chatt salad, and small plate Keema Puff. Diners also enjoy entrees like Lamb Chops, Tandoori Salmon, Chicken Madras, Lamb Vindaloo, and Lamb Rogan Josh. Meanwhile, for dessert they serve Kulfi (Indian ice cream) with poached blueberries, saffron kheer, or gulab jamun with ice cream. To add to the authenticity, they serve meals on custom-made serving dishes imported from India. Click here to see the full menu.
At the moment, Hayden’s favorite dish is the Chef’s Tasting Thali. In fact, this Indian sampler feast was originally served to royalty and presented on a thali (platter). At Naan Indian Bistro, the tasting features five different dishes on a crescent thali. However, the dish is only served during lunch hours (11:30 am – 2:30 pm). The chef’s tasting lets diners select a protein accompanied by servings of Dal Makhani (Curried Lentils), Navratan Korma (Mixed Veg Curry), Pindi Chana (Curried Chickpeas), and Raita. This also comes with rice and a choice of bread—either naan or roti (whole-wheat flour bread).
