American Cancer Society Hosts Second Annual Taste of Hope New Jersey Event

Countless people in the world today are affected by the tragic impact of cancer. The disease is a tremendous physical and mental obstacle for patients as well as their families. However, organizations like the American Cancer Society wish to erase the disease from existence with events like Taste of Hope.

On October 26, the American Cancer Society of New Jersey hosted the Second Annual Taste of Hope New Jersey event; an event which brought together food and charity to help the organization in their pursuit to end cancer.

A Taste of Hope for a Better Tomorrow

The American Cancer Society strives to help individuals and families across the country; the non-profit health organization is dedicated to eliminating cancer and saving lives. The effort of researching and raising awareness for the disease helps countless patients and families; but the organization’s journey is not over until they can help rid the world of cancer.

Last week, Best of NJ had the opportunity to speak with renowned chef Eric LeVine of Morris Tap & Grill and Paragon Tap & Table, who offered insight into the spectacular event. Chef LeVine is the culinary co-chair of the event, as well as a five-time cancer survivor. He helped organize the Second Annual Taste of Hope, joining friends and families for a night of joy and generosity.

Though the event was dedicated to helping individuals and families in need, it was hard to ignore the tantalizing aromas of gourmet meals that engulfed Cherry Valley Country Club in Skillman. A variety of cosmopolitan dishes were offered by more than a dozen of the country’s most celebrated chefs, including Chef LeVine himself. Seafood and vegan dishes were a small sampling of the entrees, as mouthwatering desserts were brought out for the many guests toward the conclusion of the evening.

Food is Just the Start

Taste of Hope’s amenities extended beyond the delectable dishes, since the event also offered live musical entertainment, silent auctions and a wine pull. Guests could silently bid on a variety of baskets and luxurious experiences that were donated by individual businesses and corporate sponsors. For the wine pull, guests were able to pay $20 for a mystery bottle of wine, which also entered them for the chance to win a special prize.

Taste of Hope

As Chef LeVine explains, “The best way to help others is by fundraising and raising awareness and by bringing hope.”

Events like Taste of Hope New Jersey are special for two reasons; First, they raise money and awareness for a great cause. But they also bring hope to those who need it, hope for health, family, and a bright future.
