Hackettstown Community Pool
Location: 599 Warren Street, Hackettstown
Price: $5 for adults, $2 for children 4-15 (weekdays); $10 for adults, $4 for children 4-15 (weekends & holidays)
Details: This family-friendly community pool boasts multiple pool areas, a waterslide and diving boards. Both day rates and seasonal membership options are available for residents and non-residents of Hackettstown, with non-residents paying slightly higher rates.
Why I like it: Kids will love the playground on the premises, as well as a fun froggy water slide for toddlers.

Location: 1 Jefferson Court, Livingston
Price: $25 for adults, $15 for children 3-17 (residents only)
Details: Northland Pool features a zero-entry depth into the main pool that’s perfect for little kids, plus a wading pool, children’s wet mat play area and a chair lift for the disabled. Daily passes are available for Livingston residents only and can be purchased at the pool.
Why I like it: Tetherball, table games and a snack bar make Northland Pool a place to spend the whole day with the family.

Palisades Park Swim Club
Location: 200 Roosevelt Place, Palisades Park
Price: $15 per person (Bergen County residents), $20 (all other New Jersey residents)
Details: This spacious pool club offers summer fun for the whole family. Day passes were previously limited to Bergen county residents but are now available to all Garden Staters. The pool is open daily from June 24 through early September.
Why I like it: Because admission is limited to county residents, Palisades Park tends to not get as crowded as other pools offering day passes.

Crystal Springs Family Waterpark
Location: 380 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick
Price: $11 weekdays, $14 weekends (residents); $22 weekdays, $28 weekends (non-residents)
Details: A state-of-the-art aquatic facility, Crystal Springs offers a recreational pool, lap pool, kiddie pool, activity pool, splash pad, lazy river and water slides. Patrons may bring chairs and lockers are available for rental.
Why I like it: Daily patrons who arrive after 4:00 pm receive a discounted admission price, $9 for residents and $18 for non-residents.

Oakcrest Family Swim Club
Location: 970 Inman Avenue, Edison
Price: $15 per person or $50 for family pass (2 adults & 3 children)
Details: The YMCA’s outdoor swim club welcomes non-members with purchase of a daily pass. The facility features a large pool, spiral slide, kiddie pool, playground, tennis courts, volleyball courts and more. Swim lessons are also available for both members and non-members.
Why I like it: The swim club is situated on 14 sprawling acres, with pavilions or tents available to rent and grills for barbecuing – the perfect place to host a party!

Walter E. Ulrich Memorial Pool
Location: St. Georges Avenue, Rahway
Price: $5 for adults, $4 for children under 18 (county residents); $10 for adults, $8 for children under 18 (non-county residents)
Details: Located in Rahway River Park, the Walter E. Ulrich Memorial Pool offers lap swimming, diving boards and more. The pool is only open on weekends through June 22, and then daily through Labor Day. A photo ID showing your current address is required for entry. Free swim sessions for seniors and people with disabilities are held every Monday and Wednesday night.
Why I like it: The price of admission for both residents and non-Union County residents are among the cheaper ones in the state, plus county residents have the option to purchase discount cards, good for repeated visits.

Location: 500 Warrenville Road, Warren
Price: $10 for adults, $6 for kids 4 & up (weekdays); $12 for adults, $8 for kids 4 & up (weekends & holidays)
Details: Warrenbrook Pool offers both seasonal memberships and daily admissions. Both county and non-county residents are permitted to purchase day passes at full price. Somerset County residents can purchase pool county ID cards for $45 that reduce the daily rates to half price.
Why I like it: You do not have to be a member in order to take advantage of swim lessons, offered for three separate two-week sessions for $70 per session.

Westfield Memorial Pool
Location: 713 Cumberland Street, Westfield
Price: $40 per person
Details: Open to both residents and non-residents, this spacious complex features several pools, two water slides, children’s sprayground, a snack bar and picnic area. Daily passes are available for purchase at the pool gate.
Why I like it: The pool’s snack bar menu includes items like smoothies, paninis, grilled sandwiches and an extensive ice-cream list!

Five Star Swim School
Location: 1 Corbett Way, Eatontown
Price: $10 per person
Details: Rainy summer day? No problem. Head to Five Star Swim School’s indoor facility to enjoy a fun day in their saltwater pool, no matter the weather. Lifeguards are always on duty during open swim hours, which are offered each day except Monday and Friday. Check the website for each day’s particular open swim hours. You can find other locations are in Edison and Princeton.
Why I like it: Indoor pools are usually warmer, which makes it easier to coax a hesitant swimmer into the pool.

Fort Monmouth Recreation Area
Location: 2566 Guam Lane, Tinton Falls
Price: $7 per person (weekdays), $10 per person (weekends & holidays)
Details: Located inside the expansive recreation facility is a 3,500 square foot pool, complete with a changing area and restrooms. Lap lanes are available each weekday morning from 7:30 to 9:00 am. Also on the premises are fitness rooms, a gym, a game area with ping-pong, pool, foosball and more.
Why I like it: Every Monday night during the summer, it’s Campfire Night! Bring along hot dogs and s’mores to cook over the fire pit.

Crystal Lake Pool
Location: Crystal Lake Avenue & Park Avenue, Haddon Township
Price: $5 for residents, $20 for non-residents
Details: You’ll find it all at Crystal Lake, a community pool nestled in the tree-lined streets of Haddon Township. The facility has a 25-meter pool, a wading pool, a splash pool, a playground area, picnic tables and a snack bar.
Why I like it: Private swim lessons are offered from certified lifeguards at the affordable price of $15 per half hour.

Location: 215 Hillcrest Avenue, Collingswood
Price: $10 for residents, $20 for non-residents
Details: Roberts Park Pool is a beautiful complex featuring three pools, plus a nearby playground. Day passes are sold at the pool and proof of residency is required to receive the discounted price.
Why I like it: Most pools open late morning, but Roberts Pool offers early morning swimming for adults and senior citizens, Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 am.
