All In One Collectibles

Location: 540 Route 10 West, Randolph
Details: All types of gameplay are on the table here: board games, miniature tabletop games, trading card games and collectible card games. Tables for board games are also available daily during store hours. Tuesday nights feature the store’s free Pokemon league, Wednesdays are Warhammer 40K and HeroClix and Friday nights are for Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournaments. HeroClix is also played on Saturday afternoons, while Sundays are open play for any games!
Why I like it: All in One offers free birthday parties and can be tailored to whatever type of games your child likes.

Jim Dandy’s

Location: 102 Park Avenue, Rutherford
Details: Every Tuesday night at 6:00 pm, the North Jersey Geeks & Nerds host Tabletop Tuesdays at Jim Dandy’s. Head over to the tables on the left side of the restaurant after you walk through the door and you’ll find at least a dozen friendly folks playing board games. Bring games if you have them, but they have been known to play anything from Yahtzee to Cards Against Humanity and more!
Why I like it: Grab dinner while you’re here, like maybe some fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs? Just don’t forget, it’s BYOB.

Time Warp Comics & Games

Location: 555 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove
Details: On the first Sunday of every month at noon, Time Warp Comics & Games is home to an all-day board game event hosted by Jersey Association of Gamers (adults only). The store also hosts various leagues and special events–please check the calendar online.
Why I like it: If you’re into comics, new and restock comics are released every Wednesday.

Family Fun Hobbies

Location: 731 Highway 33, Hamilton
Details: Every night is game night at Family Fun Hobbies. Bring the whole family for “Learn-to-Play Game Night” every Tuesday from 6:00 to 11:00 pm and play classics like Settlers of Catan and Word on the Street or try out new games. If you have a specific game in mind, check their online calendar for Pokemon, Magic the Gathering and Miniature Wargaming events on various dates.
Why I like it: Refer a friend to Family Fun Hobbies and earn store credit, or bring your report card and earn up to $5 off your purchase!

Menlo Park Mall Food Court

Location: 55 Parsonage Road, Edison
Details: A meetup hosted by the Boardgames NJ group, this weekly event takes place at Menlo Park Mall. Game play begins at 5:30 pm every Wednesday night and usually lasts four hours. All ages and experience levels are welcome to join. Check out the Meetup group to get more details and sign up to play.
Why I like it: The mall is a convenient meeting spot if you have some shopping to do or you need to grab dinner first.

ShopRite of Branchburg

Location: 3166 Route 22, Branchburg
Details: A love of board games is all that’s required to join in the fun Monday nights at 6:00 pm. All are welcome, but those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Join the Boardgames NJ Meetup group to find out more information about these weekly events and to register.
Why I like it: Members of the Boardgames NJ group tend to play a lot of the new Eurogames, which emphasize strategy over luck and have economic rather than military themes.

The Only Game in Town (TOGIT)

Location: 211 West Main Street, Somerville
Details: Bring your own game or borrow one of the store’s copies whenever you feel like dropping in for some fun. All ages and skill levels are welcome. For scheduled games, check the calendar on the store’s website. TOGIT also buys and trades games so bring in your old ones and come home with something new.
Why I like it: The store’s new location (just one storefront over from the old location) has almost double the space to offer birthday parties, expanded novelty sections and exclusive membership services.

Whole Foods Market

Location: 2245 Springfield Avenue, Vauxhall
Details: Word games, card games, classic board games and party games are on the menu at another weekly meetup event, held every Thursday evening at 6:30 pm. Both newbies and expert players are welcome, all you need to participate is an enthusiasm for the game.
Why I like it: It’s a fun, healthy alternative to spending Thursday night at happy hour at the bar.

Hidden Level Games

Location: 1613 Route 47 South, Rio Grande
Details: Hidden Level carries both retro and new video games, card games, tabletop games, collectibles and more. Tables are always available for you to play your favorites, or check out one of the weekly scheduled events. There is also a “try before you buy” playcenter where you can test out a (pre-owned) game before buying. Come on in and get your geek on!
Why I like it: Not only is Hidden Level a game store, they do repairs, too! Bring in your broken video game console or your disc that needs resurfacing and let the experts take care of it.

MudHen Brewing Company

Location: 127 West Rio Grand Avenue, Wildwood
Details: This Jersey shore establishment is more than a brewery and restaurant, it’s a fun destination for the whole family. Every Thursday night at 8:00 pm is game night, so bring the kids to enjoy an assortment of board games. For adult-only games, check out Cornhole Wednesdays. Bring a buddy and get tossing for your chance to win weekly prizes.
Why I like it: You don’t want to miss “Mom’s Pickles” on the menu…pickle spears breaded in cajun-garlic breadcrumbs served with chipotle sauce.

Nerdvana Games & Comics

Details: Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, YuGiOh play and more are on the schedule each week, but weekends are for tournaments at Nerdvana! Friday nights are Magic the Gathering open play, Saturdays are for Argent Saga and Magic the Gathering Brawl Tournaments and Sundays have Pokemon Sunday Fun Days! Why I like it: Aside from having the coolest name ever, Nerdvana hosts Family Board Game Night every Tuesday night at 6:00 pm. Bring the kids!

Tiki Tiki Board Games

Location: 164 South Broad Street, Woodbury
Details: Tiki Tiki Board Games offers open tables daily, ready for you to bring your own games or play with one of their rental or used games. If you want to learn something new, Tiki Tiki teaches a new game most Friday nights at 7:00 pm during “Board Game School.” Check out the full calendar for additional events, including Pokemon and Dungeons & Dragons games. Magic the Gathering tournaments are played every Sunday.
Why I like it: A few times a month, Tiki Tiki takes the action on the road and hosts board game night at other venues, like Eight & Sand Beer Co.

Location: 55 Haddon Avenue, Westmont
Details: Open daily, there is always some type of game happening at Top Deck Games. Check the calendar to see the various open play or tournaments scheduled. Monday nights are for Magic the Gathering and Pokemon, while Thursday nights are Star Wars Open Gaming Nights.
Why I like it: “Toy Soldier Tuesdays” feature all your favorite tabletop war games, like Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40K, Warmachine and more.
