The Best Tourist Attraction
Cape May Lighthouse

Address: 215 Lighthouse Avenue, Cape May Point
Description: The first-known lighthouse in Cape May was built in 1823. Another was built in 1847, but it was taken down as it wasn’t built properly. The current one, located at Cape May Point State Park, was built using bricks from the 1847 lighthouse. Climb 199 steps to the top of the lighthouse and you’ll be rewarded with an amazing panoramic view of the Cape May peninsula. The grounds also house an orientation center and gift shop.

The Best Beach Tips

Beach tags: Buy beach tags at all beach entrances or the City Hall Tax Office during the summer.
Beach parking: Metered parking is located along the beachfront. Free parking is located several blocks out on smaller side streets.
Changing facilities: Restrooms are located along the promenade. No public locker rooms or showers are available, but open and unenclosed showers are located along the beachfront for you to wash away sand.
