The story of Twin Lights Brewing in Tinton Falls starts like most other brewery origins, with homebrewing. But in this case, the founders met in middle school and have been friends for nearly 20 years. Their first journey into homebrewing began in February 2016, with just three batches. Soon after, the friends were investing in more advanced home brewing equipment.
Twin Lights Brewing gets its name from the Navesink Twin Lights Lighthouse in Highlands. The brewery and tasting room occupies a 3,000-square foot space in Tinton Falls. In fact, craft beer fans will recognize the address as the previous location of Jughandle Brewing. “We have been trying to open this tasting room/brewery since 2016; so I would say better late than never!” says Will Grundmann, co-founder and CEO.

A Bevy of Beers
So far, Twin Lights Brewing has brewed almost 30 unique beers. They currently have two year-round beers, their Lager and their signature Double Vision. Anything else they brew is either a limited or seasonal release. Their Lager is a German-style Pilsner and also Will’s favorite, hands down. “It’s really one of the backbones of our style of beer—balanced, easy drinking and year-round,” Will says. Meanwhile, the Double Vision IPA has been referred to as a ‘gateway IPA’. “That’s because of its general appeal, even with non-IPA drinkers,” he explains.
Another popular brew is their Years of Solitude, an Imperial Milk Stout clocking in at 10.2% ABV. This seasonal drink is brewed with toasted coconut and Madagascar vanilla beans, as well as cacao nibs. Of course, this option is available around the winter holidays.
Where to find Twin Lights Brewery Beers
Twin Lights Brewery currently distributes their beers across local liquor stores and other breweries throughout Monmouth County. A beer finder on their website shows where each beer is located. They do not currently offer online purchases; but the website lists what they have for sale and on tap at the brewery.
Mike Betros, co-founder, has previous experience working at two brewing companies. Likewise, Will was a financial advisor with bar-tending and manager experience from numerous restaurants. Their future plans consist of growing the Twin Lights Brewing brand and distribution footprint. In addition, they hope to one day open a tasting room in Highlands.
