Komodo Serves Chinese Food and Bubble Tea in Brick

Takeout and bubble tea converge at Komodo, a new Chinese restaurant now open in Brick. The 1,540-square-foot eatery with modern décor seats 16 indoors as well as 24 outside on the sidewalk. (The front and side of the restaurant have tables, chairs, and benches.) The menu includes popular Chinese takeout dishes and more.

“I saw Chinese take outs close all over New Jersey and decided to innovate a new way of doing things,” says George Beyar, owner/operator.

The Menu

Popular picks at Komodo include General Tso’s chicken, orange chicken, and the “perfectly fried” crab rangoon. Their signature dish, however, is the Komodo chicken. This dish may be too hot to handle for some, but worth it for those who enjoy spicy fare. Click here to see the full menu.

Komodo does not have a kids’ menu, but does offer many child friendly items. In fact, Beyar says kids can enjoy their sugar donuts, fries, nuggets, and chicken wings. Popcorn chicken is also coming soon.

In addition, the restaurant serves family meals that offer a variety of dishes suitable for small groups. For example, their $24.99 family meal feeds two; it includes a choice of two entrees, large soup, two chicken egg rolls, white rice, and six sugar donuts. They also have a second family meal good for four people, and a third option that feeds six.

The Bubble Tea Bar

Another reason to visit Komodo is their Bubble tea selection. “We took the concept of bubble tea and mastered the recipes,” Beyar says. “We’re consistently told our bubble tea blows away places in New York City and Philadelphia,” he adds. The bubble tea options include bubble milk black tea and bubble milk green tea. They also offer tea flavors such as Thai, cappuccino, taro, coconut, strawberry, honeydew, and chai. Likewise, their green teas include mango, green apple, lychee, blueberry, peach, and pomegranate. Meanwhile, they have slushies in flavors like passion fruit, strawberry, mango, green apple, lychee, blueberry, peach, or pomegranate.

About the Owners

Komodo is owned by George Beyar Jr. and three friends who are private investors. Beyar is a recently retired Guidance Counselor from South Richmond High School in Staten Island, NY. Upon retirement, Beyar followed his dream of owning a restaurant; bringing on investors with financial, construction, and restaurant backgrounds to bring his idea to fruition. “We have something special here and we’ve been asked if we sell our T-Shirts and if we are a chain. I look forward to seeing everyday people in the streets wearing our brand and Komodo becoming a name brand one day,” Beyar says.
