Kirshenbaum Baking Co. Comes to Westfield

There’s a new cafe in Westfield where guests can sit with friends, take a break, or catch up on work. Kirshenbaum Baking Co. is a French patisserie-inspired bakery and cafe that serves coffee, sandwiches, pastries, and sweet treats. Plus, they make everything in-house.

The 2,400 square-foot bakery greets patrons with a 20-foot custom walnut display case built-in; which they adorn with lush greenery, porcelain treasures, and the owners’ favorite reads. Uyen Kirshenbaum, founder and executive pastry chef, says the design features warm earth tones and brass accent lighting. Interior seating includes a corner table adjacent to an accent wall made with handmade clay bricks in a herringbone pattern. Meanwhile, Spanish porcelain floor tiles lead to the display case. Outdoor seating is also available.

Baking & Brewing

Kirshenbaum Baking Co. began as an online business. But after business started booming, Uyen wanted to open a brick-and-mortar shop. Though in California at the time, Uyen chose Westfield as the first location because of close proximity to family. “The stars aligned, and we had an opportunity to move to Westfield; where we could raise our family and build a business in Jeff’s hometown,” Uyen says.

Kirshenbaum Baking Co. builds their entire menu in-house using time-honored techniques and premium ingredients. This includes everything from hearth-baked breads and artisan sandwiches to seasonal pies and pastries. “At Kirshenbaum Baking Co., there is something for everyone,” Uyen explains. They have daily displays of cupcakes, cookies, pies, and cakes, as well as lunch sandwich staples made with freshly baked breads. However, Uyen’s favorite menu item is the Black Forest cake made with Amarena cherries and white chocolate whipped cream.

For the breakfast crowd, they have a rotating display of muffins, cruffins, croissants, and donuts. These items can all pair with an artisan cup of coffee made with Boxwood Coffee Roasters beans. They also offer a curated display of imported teas.
