In the Hindi language, the word “jashan” means “to celebrate.” It is this celebratory vibe that owner Ankush Punhani seeks to embody at Jashan by Dhaba in Parsippany-Troy Hills. The fine Indian dining restaurant is part of a group of restaurants his family owns and operates.
Stepping into Jashan is like stepping into the heart of India’s vibrant culture. The decor is sophisticated, with ornate tapestries adorning the walls and intricately carved wooden furnishings throughout the spacious dining hall. The restaurant also includes party rooms and a buffet area.

“We pride ourselves on authenticity,” Ankush says. “Our chefs come from renowned establishments in India, ensuring each dish stays true to its regional roots. We’re not just about serving food, we’re about offering a genuine taste of India in every bite.”
The menu at Jashan is extensive, with everything from chicken, lamb, and goat to vegan and vegetarian options. Customer favorites include the Biryani, Goat Saag, Shahi Tukda, and Chicken 65. In particular, the executive team of chefs recommend trying the Handi Paneer Lababdar or Purani Delhi ka Butter Chicken. They also encourage guests to try the Veg Chettinad for an unforgettable dining experience.
About the Business
Jashan is not Ankush’s first foray into the restaurant scene. His restaurant group – Fine Indian Dining – manages 10 successful restaurants and a catering division across New York and New Jersey. “I come from a family with a background in business, and I’ve always had a passion for food,” Ankush explains. “While originally pursuing a career in law, I eventually found myself drawn to this world. I always loved food, and I want to share that richness and diversity of Indian food with the tri-state area.”
Ankush says the most rewarding part of his job is “seeing our guests enjoy the food and atmosphere we’ve created. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that we’re providing people with memorable experiences and delicious meals.”
Future plans include expanding the Jashan menu in order to keep things fresh and exciting for new and returning customers.
