Donuts are one of those treats you can enjoy any time of day; they’re great with coffee at breakfast, can satisfy a mid-afternoon sweets craving, and work perfectly as an evening dessert. However, in New Jersey, there are just as many donut shops as there are flavors of donuts. So how do you know which ones to visit? By letting Best of NJ help, of course!
We’re rolling out our picks for the Best Donut Shops in New Jersey. These sweet shops will leave you drooling thanks to their amazing and tasty creations.

Glaze Donuts cooks their donuts in small batches throughout the day, without using preservatives or high fructose corn syrup. They also offer Gifford’s ice cream (West Caldwell only) with options like donut sundaes and ice cream donut sandwiches. They even have homemade soda and homemade waffles (New Milford only).
Why I like it: The famous Italian Rainbow Cookie-Donut, with its jelly filling and a layer of chocolate. In fact, this is such a hot ticket it’s only available on weekends.

Owner and head baker, Rachel Crampsey, says bread is her first passion. However, she admits she also loves doughnuts. Montclair Bread Company offers classic donuts like apple cider, as well as specialty donuts including maple bacon. Meanwhile, premium donuts feature flavors like Nutella. This shop is also home to the “duffin,” a muffin they bake in the shape of a donut.
Why I like it: You can celebrate a special occasion with a giant donut cake, in either 6” or 10” size.

At first, it was donuts, frozen custard, and homemade sauces; since then, their menu has grown to include even more specialty items; such as the pretzel-crusted fried chicken served with pepper caramel dipping sauce and doughnut bread pudding. Need we say more?
Why I like it: The freshly-made donuts are only available on Sundays at the Princeton Whole Foods; so be sure to get there when they arrive at 10:00 am, otherwise they always sell out!

The famous Duck Donut is a freshly-made vanilla cake donut. The most popular coatings include cinnamon sugar, chocolate icing, or peanut butter icing.
