Montclair Bread Company Donuts

Beignets

Where: 45 Broadway, Denville
Details: Warm, fresh donuts and a coffee bar will greet you at Beignets. Meanwhile, gourmet donuts include Camryn’s Strawberry Fields, a strawberry glazed donut with white chocolate chips; then there’s Logan’s Oreo Explosion, a chocolate glazed donut with Oreo cookie crumbs and chocolate sprinkles. Both get their names from the owner’s family members. At Beignets, you can also create your own donut! Just pick a glaze and then which toppings you’d like.
Why I like it: Beignets are also (obviously) on the menu. If you’ve never tried one, you’ll want to; it’s a French pastry that is fried and topped with powdered sugar.

They also offer Gifford’s ice cream with options like donut sundaes and ice cream donut sandwiches. (But only at their West Caldwell and Fort Lee locations.) They even have homemade soda and homemade waffles (New Milford only).
Why I like it: The famous Italian Rainbow Cookie-Donut, with its jelly filling and a layer of chocolate. In fact, this is such a hot ticket it’s only available on weekends.

This shop is also home to the “duffin,” a muffin they bake in the shape of a donut.

Curiosity Doughnuts

Where: Whole Foods Market, 3495 US-1 South, Princeton
Details: How can anyone resist a S’mores donut? Curiosity Doughnuts first began with a question, “What can we do with donuts?” back in 2015. To this day, they’re constantly creating new varieties. At first, it was donuts, frozen custard, and homemade sauces. Since then, their menu has grown to include even more specialty items; such as the pretzel-crusted fried chicken served with pepper caramel dipping sauce and doughnut bread pudding. Need we say more?
Why I like it: The freshly-made donuts are only available on Sundays at the Princeton Whole Foods; so be sure to get there when they arrive at 10:00 am, otherwise they always sell out!
