The website for Barry Farber asks “What CAN’T Barry do?” on its homepage. It’s a fair question, considering he’s an author, artist, sales strategist, and radio/TV host. Now, he’s venturing into the children’s book genre. The Adventures of Little Billy, “In Search of the Magic Tree” spotlights traits like determination, courage, and empathy.
In the story, five animals interact with Billy on his journey to find the Magic Tree. Each animal embodies a characteristic or trait of a successful leader (taken from Farber’s Diamond in the Rough book). Of course, understanding these traits unlocks the secrets Billy needs to get to the magic tree. All throughout, the book offers valuable life lessons on how children can create meaningful friendships and find deeper happiness.

Farber, a married father of three, feels it is never too early to teach kids life values. For example, Lawrence the Owl helps all animals regardless of who they are. Likewise, Ruppert the Toad tells Billy that he needs to look on the inside of those he sees. “It’s great to read books to kids,” Farber says. “But it’s even better if you can take a book and create a foundation of strong attributes that parents feel good about and values they want to share.”
The Adventures of Little Billy is also set to become an animated television series. In fact, Farber selected the voice cast based on how each person is viewed in society. “I was very particular in selecting the right voices,” he says. For instance, Ottis Jerome “O.J.” Anderson is playing Sherman the Turtle. “He is the essence of determination,” says Farber. Meanwhile, The Amazing Kreskin will play The Magic Tree. “He’s a big believer in courage, empathy, and speaking your own mind,” Farber says about Kreskin. Eden Kontesz provides the voice of Little Billy; Eden, who is 10-years-old, has worked on TV shows such as The Simpsons and Transparent.
