Summer is nearly here. Whether you’re taking a well-deserved resort vacation or heading to your local beach, now is the perfect time to update your swimsuit. From bold prints to embellishments to skirted bottoms, this year’s hottest looks offer something for everyone.
Best of NJ recently caught up with Sabra Krock, Creative Director of Everything But Water – a swim and resort fashion shop which has locations in Paramus, Short Hills, Freehold, and Edison – to get the scoop on how to find the perfect suit regardless of your body type and fashion sensibility. “Finding the perfect swimsuit can take time,” says Krock. “Go shopping when you’re not in a rush and you can try on different suits. Bodies and styles change, so be open and seek advice from an experienced sales associate who can suggest new styles and silhouettes.”
Below, Krock shares 4 great swimsuit trends that are making a big splash this summer (Click the gallery for full descriptions):

Body Type: Slim
The Look: “Choose a Suit with less coverage such as tie-side bottoms and triangle tops to create the illusion of curves. Tops or bottoms with bold prints, ruffles and embellishments add intrigue and feminine flair, and can create the appearance of more curve at top or bottom.”
Body Type: Hourglass
The Look: “Try a bikini bottom that ties on the side or is adjustable to accommodate your curves. Make sure that the fit of the bottom is secure. Play down your curves and let the eyes settle elsewhere by selecting a minimizing bottom in a dark color. A plunging neckline or eye-catching top also draws the eye upward, minimizing the bottom.”
Body Type: Triangle
The Look: “For extra coverage of the rear, look for a clean, skirted bottom. It’s a feminine look that offers more coverage. Choose a longer, skirted bottom that falls just below the largest part of the upper leg for maximum coverage that’s also going to flatter your thighs. Tankinis allow you to customize the suit to your body and offer the flexibility of a two-piece with the appearance of a one-piece.”
Body Type: Plus-Size
The Look: “Plus-size offerings have expanded immensely. There are now many fashionable plus-size brands on the market that flatter a fuller figure and provide style that is on trend. Everything But Water carries a range of sizes from 12 to 24, and provides experts in all of our stores to help each customer find the best fit for their body type.”
Body Type: Curvy
The Look: “Look for one pieces with V-necks. Underwire or adjustable halter tops provide support as can banding under the bust.”
