Ways to Support New Jersey’s Military Heroes

Every day, brave men and women put their lives at risk to travel to foreign lands and fight on behalf of the United States and other nations in need. Each and every individual within the United States’ military possesses an unparalleled amount of courage. Though recruits receive vast amounts of training for battle, very few are ready for civilian life when they return home.

On this edition of Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato, the host discusses what needs to be done; in particular, to improve the quality of care for military heroes. Included in the discussion are Marcy Felsenfeld, Senior Program Officer at The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey; Lloyd Deans, Mental Health Supervisor at Vets 4 Warriors; Patricia Findley of Rutgers University; and Emily Feiner, Chief of Social Work Services at VA NJ Healthcare Services.

“I think [it’s] very important, having some type of stability back home for you, so when you come home you have a ‘soft landing,’” says Deans, who is also a U.S. veteran.

Through these organizations, it is easier for veterans to re-enter into society; of course, there is still work to do on this front.

To learn the ways in which these organizations are facilitating our veterans, and to find out what you can do to help, check out this episode of Caucus: New Jersey with Steve Adubato.
