Isola Brings BYOB Italian Dining to Long Beach Island

The Italian word “isola” means island. It’s a fitting name for Isola Italian Trattoria in Beach Haven. Proprietors Marysol Duffy and Rosa Luisi opened the restaurant out of a desire to bring an authentic Northern Italian dining experience to Long Beach Island.

Isola’s interior offers a “modern vibe” according to General Manager and Executive Pizza Chef Dylan Walenciak. The restaurant boasts walnut tables and cognac banquettes and chairs alongside copper themes with mahogany slats and green undertones throughout. The centerpiece is their white and silver imported Fiero pizza oven, which is where they prepare all pizzas and breads. Besides pizza, the menu also includes pasta, seafood, and more.

Contemporary Takes on Classic Favorites

Isola blends tried and true recipes with trendy flavors. Dylan wood-fires their Neapolitan pizzas and fresh sourdough breads and focaccia all in-house using their pizza oven. Some of their more unique pizzas include the Fig Pizza and Pinoli Pie. The former features fior di latte, rosemary, prosciutto, goat cheese, orange zest, and balsamic reduction. Meanwhile, the latter combines preserved lemons, fior di latte, pesto, piped ricotta, & pine nuts. Homemade gluten-free pizzas are also on the way.

“We strive to deliver excellence and professionalism from our food to our service,” Dylan says. “We bring personality to our guests and have an amazing base of local patrons.”

Fresh Pizza

In addition to pizzas, Executive Chef Ermelindo Firmani prepares a selection of homemade pasta dishes. At the moment, fan favorites include the Lasagna Bolognese Rotolo and Cavatelli with Pork Ragu and Broccoli Rabe.

Seafood highlights from the Isola menu include pan-seared branzino, pan-seared Viking Village scallops, and Spaghettini Arrabbiata. That last option is a pasta dish with spicy pomodoro, calabrian chili oil, crab meat, lobster meat, & gremolata bread crumbs. Likewise, meat options showcase short ribs and pork chops.

But save room for the chef’s award-winning cheesecake, made with white-chocolate mascarpone cheese and sea-salted caramel.
