The downtown area of Westwood is home to a bustling scene of restaurants, boutiques, and specialty shops. The area is also a spot for lovers of sweets, retro candies, and other treats. That’s because Westwood Candy Company & Gift Shoppe offers chocolates, popcorn, sweet chutneys, and more.
The 1,350-square-foot, old-fashioned candy shop boasts a quaint, vintage feel with a modern twist. The confectionery store has a “clean, bright, and welcoming atmosphere,” says Owner Kimberly Aluotto. She describes the interior as “an old-fashioned candy store vibe but with modern amenities and a soft palate.”

A Curated Selection of Global Candies
Westwood Candy Company stocks a large selection of chocolates and candies made locally, within the US, and around the world. “Our retro candy section is very popular, for both young and old,” Kimberly says. The shop sells gummies (both sweet and sour), chocolates by the pound, popcorn, beef jerky, and more.
Kimberly says “it’s truly difficult to choose one specific item” as her favorite. But their selection of unique chocolates from the Western New York region where she grew up is special to her. In particular, she enjoys the “sponge candy, which is covered in chocolate and simply melts in your mouth.”
Aside from that, everything we sell we ‘must’ sample ourselves…all for research and development purposes of course,” she adds.
As for the Gift Shoppe section of Westwood Candy Company, they carry everything from drinkware to toys and games. “We offer items for everyone including men, women, children, infants, and pets,” Kimberly says.

In the age of online shopping, the goal of Westwood Candy Company is to revive the in-store shopping experience. “It’s nice to have a gift shoppe that allows people to feel, touch, and purchase items in person,” Kimberly says. “This allows me, as a business owner, to personally meet and greet our customers one on one. Our loyal customers have turned into friends and that is something very special.”
Prior to Westwood Candy Company, Kimberly ran a consignment shoppe in Morris County. But her husband owns a contracting business in town and her four kids go to school in the area. “I love creating a space that allows people to purchase unique items for themselves or for others,” she says. “Who isn’t happy choosing a piece or bag of their favorite candy? Or spoiling themselves or others with a trinket, gift basket, or toy for your child?”
