The Best Antique Stores in Monmouth County

The latest update for The Best Antique Stores in Monmouth County is written by Lindsay Podolak.

New Jersey’s Monmouth County is rich in history. We often forget this fact as the area continues to undergo development – especially in Asbury Park and Red Bank. Over the centuries, everything from an important American Revolutionary War battle to the vacations of several presidents has unfolded on Monmouth County soil.

With such a history, perhaps it’s no surprise that it is chock-full of antique stores. Here are just a few of our favorite places to find something new that happens to be something old.

Antique Center of Red Bank

Red Bank Antique Store

Location: 226 West Front Street, Red Bank and 195 West Front Street, Red Bank: There are technically two buildings that make up this shop, Building III (a red building) and Building II (a white warehouse-style building).
Details: You could easily lose an afternoon browsing both of these shops, which feature a wide variety of different vendors. Building III is a mix of affordable-to-high-end antiques. Meanwhile, Building II has a focus on higher-end pieces. Though you can use credit, cash will often net you discounts with various vendors.
Why I like it: The Antique Center offers special services including jewelry, watch, clock, furniture and vintage toy repair, plus jewelry appraisals and metal polishing. Also, both buildings are air-conditioned, so feel free to take your time perusing on a a hot, summer day.
More info: www.redbankantique.com or call 732-842-3393 for Building II or 732-842-4336 for Building III

Horseman Antiques

Location: 1315 Route 34 South, Wall, with a showroom at 23 West Sylvania Avenue, Neptune City.
Details: Another well-curated showroom that’s on the higher end, but this time the focus is primarily on mid-century. This spot also features industrial and contemporary collections. This includes pieces such as dining room sets, modern art and bedroom storage. Appointments are a must here.
Why I like it: Peruse Horseman Antiques’ online collection first so you can get a feel for the type of items the store has when you visit.

Mill House Antiques

Chairs From Mill House

Location: 361 Broadway, Long Branch
Details: This spot is geared towards the high-end antiques market, with pristine finds from previous centuries filling this expansive location. With everything from grand pianos to rare small valuables, Mill House Antiques has been serving the Jersey Shore and its surrounding areas for more than 38 years. If you ever need a circa-1790 sideboard buffet, this is the place to find it.
Why I like it: The store also sells its wares on eBay, so check them out there if you can’t make it in person.

Salvage Angel by the Sea

Location: 1325 Washington Avenue, Asbury Park
Details: This store was born from a personal quest to find authentic, vintage home restoration pieces. Almost 17 years later, Salvage Angel by the Sea has become the Garden State’s most comprehensive reclaimed architecture and vintage home decor resource. Doors, stained glass windows, reclaimed lumber, doorknobs, pulls, hinges and plumbing fixtures are just the tip of the iceberg. There are also bricks, bluestone slabs, art pieces, jewelry and vintage textiles on hand. Whatever accent you’re seeking for your home, you’ll find it here.
Why I like it: This is an adults only establishment, so enjoy a child-free day of shopping at Salvage Angel by the Sea.

Shore Antique Center

Clothing from Shore Antique

Location: 413 Allen Avenue, Allenhurst
Details: Owners Chris and Rose Meyer have more than 60 years of experience in the antiques business and their expertise is on display at the Shore Antique Center. The warehouse is home to over 25 merchants selling antiques, art, furniture and collectibles. You’ll love wandering around the spacious environment with tall ceilings and lots of light. Trade discounts are offered, as are design consultations, appraisals and delivery.
Why I like it: The store periodically hosts free appraisal clinics, so be sure to follow their Facebook page for the latest date.

Standard Supply Salvage & Antiques

Location: 41 Shark River Road, Tinton Falls
Details: In the back of this hardware store (which happens to have a cute retro sign to begin with), you’ll find an unexpected haven of salvaged architectural elements. This is the place to source authentic decades-old columns along with smaller antique accessories such as toys, phones and office supplies. As far as antique stores, it’s certainly unique.
Why I like it: Follow along on Instagram, where you’ll see pictures of new inventory added daily.
