Belmar Sandcastle Contest
When: July 13, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm (rain date: July 14)
Where: 18th Avenue Beach, Belmar
Description: Grab your bathing suit, sunblock, and your best pails and shovels, and take part in Belmar’s annual Sandcastle Contest. Join in the fun as you create one-of-a-kind sand sculptures that may (or may not) compete with artists who create masterpieces. Try your hand at what it takes to be a master sandcastle sculptor, or just take in the sand art during your day at the beach.

Rajin' Cajun
Best for Dinner: Rajin’ Cajun

Description: Get a taste of New Orleans at the Jersey Shore with the help of Rajin’ Cajun. Owner and Chef Tracie Orsi, who passed away in 2015, created an establishment that continues to live on in her memory. Since 1992, when Rajin’ Cajun’s doors first opened, the sound of music flooding out the doors along with the smells of spicy Jambalaya and Swamp Daddy Pasta has continued to lure lucky diners inside for what feels like a dinner with your 50 closest friends.

The Best Tourist Attraction:

Sea Girt Lighthouse
Address: Beacon and Ocean Avenue, Sea Girt
Description: Built in 1896, the Sea Girt Lighthouse became the last live-in lighthouse built on the Atlantic Coast to help illuminate the shoreline between Sandy Hook and Barnegat Inlet. Used up until the 1950s, the lighthouse continues to remain a historical reminder to Sea Girt residents of its relationship to the sea. Tours run on Sunday from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm from May through Thanksgiving.

Shark River Inlet
Shark River Inlet
Address: Belmar
Description: Connecting to the Atlantic Ocean, the Shark River Inlet is the perfect body of water to swim, snorkel, scuba dive, or kayak in. With various locations along Route 35, the Inlet includes a park with tennis courts, a playground, a swimming beach, and kayak access, providing an opportunity to explore one of the area’s hidden gems.

Beach Badges: Belmar Daily Badge Fee – $8 per day, under 15 free.
Sea Girt Daily Badge Fee – $10.
Beach Parking: Belmar parking along the boardwalk costs $2 per hour; Sea Girt offers plenty of free parking.
Changing Facilities: Belmar doesn’t offer any changing rooms along the beach, however, there are outdoor showers available; Sea Girt doesn’t offer public bath houses.
