Atlantic City Boardwalk Con is NJ’s Next Big Event

The Garden State is filled with a variety of exciting conventions, expositions, and events. Last year, Atlantic City introduced a new convention set to take over the Jersey Shore for one weekend each May.

The Atlantic City Boardwalk Con (ACBC) is a comic, cosplay, and pop culture convention for people of all ages. Held at the Atlantic City Convention Center for the second year in a row, the venue features a plethora of vendors, celebrity guests, artists, and writers. This year also adds a TV & Film Auto Exhibit and the Marston Family Wonder Woman Museum.

Last year, the ACBC provided groups of friends and families with an assortment of fun activities, between the friendly and notable guests and the entertaining and educational workshops. This year, they have upped the ante, adding an engaging “Kidz Zone,” with a number of organized activities, workshops, a costume contest with prizes, a caricature artist, the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine, the Flinstone’s prehistoric car, and even a Justice League Bounce House. It will also feature free coloring and kid photo backdrops for younger children.

For those who love television and film, a number of celebrities will be attending the convention this year, including Breaking Bad’s R.J. Mitte and Giancarlo Esposito, The Flash’s Teddy Sears, and Golden Globe Nominee and Primetime Emmy Winner Drea de Matteo. Most recently, the convention confirmed the appearance of Ming-Na Wen, perhaps most known for her current work on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (see picture) and for providing the titular character’s voice in Disney’s Mulan. There will also be an exhilarating live game show, CONquest, held on Saturday night for adults as well as teens.

While most conventions and expositions around the country cater to dedicated comic book fans, ACBC opens itself up to the individuals who might not be as educated about traditional comics or new television shows and movies. The event is for anyone and everyone looking to have a blast with friends and family members among other like-minded individuals.

The Atlantic City Boardwalk Con is a 3-day event that takes place from Friday, May 13 until Sunday, May 15 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. For passes, times, and more info, visit their website at www.doacbc.com. For a chance to win a free pair of 3-day passes, be sure to “Like” Best of NJ on Facebook and follow @bestofnj on Twitter.
