Barefoot Sells Fashion-Forward Active Apparel for Women

The Jersey Shore houses many boutiques and shopping outlets. But one local business in particular specializes in high-quality active and lifestyle products. Barefoot is a small, women-owned athleisure boutique in Monmouth County, with locations in Spring Lake and Sea Girt. They provide everything from comfortable clothing and footwear to accessories and workout props.

“Shopping small and local gets you the best personal shopping experience,” says owner Alison Maccione. She also says the shops have a relaxing, fun, and friendly environment. “We know our customers’ needs and wants; we remember their likes and dislikes, and can keep them updated with the latest and greatest products,” she adds. Each location is 1,200 square feet or less, and they frequently rotate what’s on display. “Our inventory turns over quickly, so we always have new products arriving,” Alison explains.

Comfy Clothes & More

Barefoot boats fashion-forward apparel from 12 to 15 brands. Their most popular items are Spacedye from Beyond Yoga and Airweight from Splits59; both are comfortable yet technical leggings. However, Alison says her favorite brand hails from the Garden State. “K-DEER is a female owned and founded New Jersey-based business,” she says. “They’re famous for their signature strips, high waistband, and ultra-flattering fit.”

Of course, everything Barefoot offers is designed and crafted for high-energy beach, gym, and studio lifestyles. With this in mind, their customers range from athletes to casual exercise goers; as well as those who simply want to be comfortable while they work from home. “Barefoot provides active and lifestyle apparel for women of all ages, with a range of fitness levels and interests.”

As far as accessories go, the boutique offers hair ties, jewelry, and sunglasses, in addition to Mochilas. The latter is a Colombian knapsack, and the ones at Barefoot are all made by the women of the Wayuu. (An American Indian group in northern Colombia.) They also sell a variety of workout weights, including power rings, and have a selection of water bottles and tumblers.
