The Collective Bookstore Brings Unique Selection to Verona

Independent bookstores provide more than just the latest hits. They offer a unique opportunity to find books from local authors, as well as rare reads. The Collective Bookstore in Verona packs almost 4,000 books into its relatively small shop. Options range from trending fiction to children’s cookbooks and coffee table books.

“It’s really important for us to represent a diverse selection of subjects and authors in all genres throughout our store,” says Josh Jacobs, owner. The 1,000 square foot store is independently owned and operated. From contemporary bestsellers to timeless classics, they have something to satisfy every bookworm’s craving.

A Bookstore For Readers & Writers Alike

The Collective Bookstore believes in the power of literature. “If you could find one theme that runs throughout the store, it’s writing and creativity,” Josh says. “From our books about writing and creativity to our pens and supplies, we have a growing customer base of writers and aspiring writers.”

Similar to other independent stores, The Collective Bookstore offers a unique selection of books and products. “Every bookshop is a little different because every item in the store is picked out by the unique individuals who own the stores,” Josh says. “We have no algorithms to the way we order books. I spend a lot of time talking to and meeting our customers. I don’t believe that an algorithm can accurately predict what a person will enjoy reading; because readers don’t stick to one genre 100% of the time.”

In addition, their business model allows them to support and donate back to local schools and charitable organizations. They give discounts for school orders and fundraising opportunities. In fact, they contributed to about a dozen charitable organizations in just their first four months of operation.
