The Breakfast Nook Brings Morning Meals to Sicklerville

New Jersey is known for, among other things, both its bagels and its diners. The Breakfast Nook – a new restaurant in Sicklerville – combines the best of both worlds. The owners aim to offer an eatery that’s more chef inspired, with an upscale yet family oriented atmosphere.

The Breakfast Nook is a 1,500-square foot space that seats up to 20 indoors at five tables. (They are first come, first serve and do not take reservations.) There is no outdoor seating as of yet, but it’s something they are looking into. “Our décor is very modern and gives off beachy and comfortable vibes,” says Co-owner and Executive Chef Alex Domzalski.

The inspiration for Breakfast Nook comes from a shared vision between Alex and Co-owner Joel Schliep. “We wanted to be a bagel shop through and through with an upscale diner twist,” Alex says. “But, we’re not your standard bagel shop by any means.”

A Brand New Way to Breakfast

Of course, breakfast items are the name of the game here. Breakfast Nook offers morning meal faves such as French toast, Belgian waffles, and eggs benedict. However, Alex says his favorite item is the Breakfast Nook Bowl; with onions, peppers, chorizo, avocado, bacon, and spinach over a bed of home fries. Click here to see the full menu.

You can also order from the create-your-own sandwich menu; with your choice of bread, meat, egg style, and spread. Likewise, Breakfast Nook has a few signature sandwiches including the Morning After sandwich and The Breakfast Nook Special sandwich. The restaurant uses local sources such as Rockland Bakery for their bagels, and Deluxe Italian Bakery for their pastries. In addition, their brioche bread comes from Del Buono’s Bakery and the coffee hails from End Grain Roaster.

Speaking of drinks, Breakfast Nook serves caffeinated, kegged cold brew coffee that comes out of a tap. They also have retail coffee bags for sale and canned nitro cold brew, along with some specialty coffee drinks. They plan to soon serve house-made specialty lemonades and refreshers as well.

About the Business

The Breakfast Nook interior features artwork from local artists. “Designing our restaurant, we really wanted to feature as much of a local touch as we could,” Alex explains. For instance, they rotate local artwork within the long hallway leading to the restroom. All the artwork is for sale, and 100% of the proceeds go to the artists.

Alex has experience as a chef at many restaurants across northern and southern New Jersey. Meanwhile, Joel is a successful barber and businessman who loves food and cooking. Both grew up in the area and now live near the restaurant.
