The Shortrounds Deli in Emerson is a popular spot for sandwiches, salads, homemade desserts, and more. They offer grocery delivery, deli orders for pickup, and catering for special occasions. Now, the business has expanded to add Shortrounds Grab & Go Market just a few doors down from the deli. In part, Shortrounds Market offers deli and catering menu favorites.
Shortrounds Market is stocked with sandwiches, wraps, paninis, prepared meals, bowls, soups, and specialty salads; as well as nuts, dips, sauces, desserts, and more. Despite its recent opening, the 700-square foot spot first came to mind for the owners years ago. “Since everything in our deli is made to order, it takes time to prepare,” says owner Dan Hivry. “We know our customers are often in a rush and the wait time varies depending on how busy we are. I realized the need and want for a place that folks could effortlessly pick up lunch or dinner. The Market allows folks to pop in and swiftly grab a full meal or a snack.”

The Grab & Go setup also carries many of their most popular catered meals in smaller portions; this includes chicken marsala, rice balls, and eggplant rollatini. In fact, future plans include expanding their menu and selling half trays of their most popular catered items. But for now, patrons can pick up the fan favorite chicken noodle soup; enjoy a healthy, low-carb bowl with blackened chicken, sauteed broccoli, asparagus, string beans, and Brussels sprouts; or take the Shortrounds Market signature eggplant special to-go. The latter includes fried eggplant with fresh mozzarella (made in-house daily), roasted red peppers, arugula, and balsamic vinegar.
Of course, Shortrounds Market also serves deli sandwiches like the popular Lucky Strike sandwich; which comes with chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, pesto, and balsamic vinegar, named after a former bowling alley in town. About the Owners
Dan Hivry started at Shortrounds Deli & Catering in high school, working after school and on weekends. During his college years in Pennsylvania, he regularly drove home to help on weekends and work summers. The original owners, a married couple named Mary and John, owned Shortrounds and considered Dan part of their family. Then, when Mary passed away unexpectedly, Dan stepped up to help keep the business afloat. Now Dan and his wife Jen operate both Shortrounds Deli & Catering and Shortrounds Grab & Go Market. Both grew up in the area, with Dan from New Milford and Jen from Westwood.
