A town in Middlesex County is the home of a new Portuguese restaurant. Fire & Flavor Grill brings original Portuguese barbecue and famous Portuguese dishes to Metuchen; as well as an expansive menu of sandwiches, desserts, and more. Owner Wilson Dasilva says he “was aiming for an industrial look/barn style” for the interior.
The 1,000-square foot Fire & Flavor Grill seats 20 guests inside. Wilson describes the full menu as “original Portuguese barbecue, charcoal chicken, ribs, and some of the most famous Portuguese dishes”. In addition to dining at the restaurant, Fire & Flavor grill offers catering for parties and events.

Menu Highlights
Popular dishes so far include the combination platter with chicken and spare ribs, plus rice and homemade fries. However, Wilson’s favorite menu item is the shrimp and garlic dinner, which comes with rice and French fries. He also loves the house mix pork cubes, known as picadinho de porco; this dish serves pork cubes, clams, and sausage over cubed potatoes. The grilled picanha – aka sirloin steak – is another winner with patrons. Most meals can add sides such as veggies, black beans, or salad for a small upcharge.
In addition to a variety of barbecue meats, the Fire & Flavor menu features soups, salads, sides, sandwiches, and fish. (But the menu changes based on what is currently in stock.) Likewise, there are a number of homemade dessert options, from rice pudding and flan to tiramisu and cheesecake. About the Owner
Wilson Dasilva previously worked for eight years in the heating and cooling industry at a Metuchen-based business. (His knowledge of the area is part of his decision to bring Fire & Flavor to Metuchen.) He also boasts an extensive restaurant background, working in bars and restaurants since the age of 14. His restaurant jobs range from roles in the US to Paris as well as on a cruise ship; as a waiter, a head bartender, and also a sommelier.
