Dune 18 Brings Shore Chic Cuisine to Ship Bottom

After a three-month delay due to COVID-19, Dune 18 is now open for business in Ship Bottom. Thinking on their feet, owners Virginia and Marc Zanone made some changes along the way to suit today’s shifting climate. Now, the restaurant – which serves American cuisine with Asian influences – is able to provide an even better dining experience.

For instance, their outdoor seating renovation now accommodates 6-foot social distancing guidelines; but still makes room for more seating than previously planned, so more patrons can eat outside. (Dune 18 now seats 40 on their patio and along their sidewalk.) In addition, a third-party cleaning service now cleans and disinfects the eatery thoroughly biweekly. “The vibe is cosmopolitan,” the duo explains, discussing the interior design. “A lot of small lights, flowers, cool music.” The BYOB spot seats 54 guests in a space that mixes “an upscale contemporary feel with a beach house vibe.”

Marc and Virginia are New Yorkers previously working as an electrical contractor and graphic designer, respectively. In fact, they are the original owners of DaVinci’s Eataly Italian Market and Restaurant, where Dune 18 now stands. Their former venture lasted five years, from 2013 to 2017; then they leased out the space for two years as Gregory’s from 2018 to 2019.

To begin your meal, the Zanones suggest starting with lobster flatbread and smoked salmon pizza. Next, as an entree, the panko pan-seared bluefin tuna and the pork chop are current favorites. For diners with specific diets, Dune 18 offers both vegan and gluten-free options as well. But be sure to save room for dessert; their mouthwatering selections include a chocolate tower, cheesecake, red velvet cake, key lime pie, and tartufo. Click here for the full menu.
