Open since July, a new casual Mediterranean restaurant is delighting Fair Lawn residents. Ada Mediterranean Grill is Owner Erhan Zaza Gezer’s first restaurant. The word Ada, which means both “island” and “first daughter” in the Turkish language, has heavy meaning for Gezer. First, because he spent five years as head chef of a five-star hotel on the island of Cyprus; but also because he views his debut restaurant as a ‘first-born’ of sorts.
“It was a much-needed addition to the area,” says Gezer, adding that it’s also in a convenient location. Gezer made New Jersey his home when he first came to the US. He currently resides close to Fair Lawn, which makes the location convenient in more ways than one.

Ada Mediterranean Grill offers brunch, lunch and dinner, as well as delivery and catering services. Their menu includes a variety of modern Mediterranean delicacies like meze, salads, char-grilled and seasoned kebobs, and lighter seafood. They offer vegetarian and halal choices, too. Particularly, some meze options include stuffed grape leaves and stuffed eggplant. For salads, try the ADA salad mix – greens, iceberg lettuce, apple, dried cranberries, pepitas, crumbled goat cheese and vinaigrette dressing.
Main courses feature delicious choices like shrimp casserole and a pistachio adana kebab. For dessert, Gezer recommends saffron poached pears with vanilla ice cream and a pistachio crumble. In addition, they plan on offering seasonal desserts, such as a ginger pumpkin soufflé for fall.
Ada is a modern and sleek restaurant where you dine in an intimate setting. The restaurant can seat up to 45-50 inside, with outdoor seating also available. “This is a place for love and friendship,” says Gezer. “I want my dishes to bring people closer together and create conversation. I want them to feel relaxed as if on a vacation, forgetting the everyday hassles of their lives. I’ll take care of the feast. All they have to do is share food and enjoy the company they’re with.”
You can find Ada Mediterranean Grill at 14-25 Plaza Road North in Fair Lawn. The restaurant is open Monday-Friday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, and weekends from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. You can make a reservation either by phone – 201-791-2222 – or via their website.
