==================
Memorial Day was originally intended to honor those that died in the Civil War but unfortunately, that was not the last war that Americans lost their lives in. After World War I, the holiday’s purpose was expanded to include all Americans lost to war. Memorial Day is a day for remembering “those who gave their last full measure of devotion” and to recognize every veteran who has fought and those that are still fighting around the world.

NJ Events: Memorial Day

The National Moment of Remembrance is a tradition that I just learned about. Everyone is asked to keep silent for a moment at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2015 for the “National Moment of Remembrance”. This is done every Memorial Day and it was initiated by No Greater Love Organization in 1997 and formally established by the United States Congress in the year 2000.
