For those who can’t wake up without coffee, or are typically in need of an afternoon recharge there’s good news. Daily Grounds coffee shop in Wenonah is a “casual, comfortable, and homey” spot to enjoy a latte, sandwich, and more. Owner Ilias Tsakiris lives in nearby Woolwich and is excited to serve the community.
Daily Grounds replaces Chompsky’s Cafe, a popular mainstay for quite some time. In fact, Ilias patronized the cafe himself. So the news of its closure hit him hard, inspiring him to open his own cafe in Chompsky’s place. In his mind, Ilias didn’t want the town to lose a coffee shop. Especially one that offers both indoor seating for up to 24 guests as well as outdoor seating on their patio.

What’s Brewing at Daily Grounds
The coffee shop specializes in lattes, offering both regular and flavored options. The latter uses syrups like caramel, French vanilla, banana, and pumpkin spice to create fun flavors. Daily Grounds also features an array of made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
In particular, patrons love the Build-Your-Own sandwich option. This allows customers to select their preferred bread, egg, meat, cheese, and dressing/spreads. “They offer customers the freedom to customize their breakfast any way they want,” Ilias says. Meanwhile, gluten-free goers can enjoy gluten-free bagels and hummus dips.

Ilias says his favorite drink is their cold brew, made with signature house-blend coffee beans. (Their coffee supplier is Working Class Coffee in Philadelphia). He is also a fan of their Porky Morning sandwich. This option includes pork roll, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel with chipotle mayo spread.
About the Business
Daily grounds does not have a kids menu, but they do sell kid-friendly items. This includes small chocolate milks and apple juices, in addition to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and Chobani Flip yogurts. Similarly, they don’t provide delivery but they do offer takeout. The coffee shop has both vegetarian and gluten-free options. But they do not accept reservations.

Ilias has been in the food industry for over 22 years. He has experience working in Greece at family-owned restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes, and hotels. But he’s been part of the New Jersey restaurant scene for the past six years. He’s done nearly everything, starting as a busser and going through all positions in the customer service industry; all the way up to hotel and restaurant general manager. Now he operates Daily Grounds while his wife, Erica, handles menu ideas, feedback, and décor.
