The Best of: ToyConNJ

Kids and collectors alike loved seeing ToyConNJ return to the Garden State this past weekend for two days of fun. The event welcomed countless fans of both new and vintage toys and old school collectibles. Adults could revisit their youth while browsing through the immense collections brought by vendors and exhibitors from across the country.

ToyConNJ, held at Parsippany’s PAL Building off Baldwin Road, encompassed four separate rooms and multiple hallways housing numerous vendors, selling anything from 60-year-old baseball cards to brand new collectibles. Even the avid comic book reader was able to find his favorite heroes and villains in collections supplied by a number of different vendors.

Toys For All

The event’s vendors even offered a variety of memorabilia from popular television shows and movies, like Supernatural, The Simpsons and Star Wars. With DC and Marvel movies and shows exploding in popularity in recent years, there was no shortage of favorites like Batman, Superman, Deadpool, Iron Man and other hero-based collectibles at this year’s event.

ToyConNJ also offered door prizes and auctions for everyone in attendance. Every half hour, a new raffle winner was announced. Prizes included a number of different toy-related items.

Tons of families traveled out to the event on August 27 and 28. While kids went through bins of toys, adults reminisced about their youth, when toys were complex and built to last. Parents were visibly elated to share these very special moments with their young children. The combination of new, vintage, and antique toys and games, comics, art, collectibles, and other memorabilia brought groups of like-minded individuals together to share the interests and items of their respective generations; ToyConNJ recognized no division, only connection.

The next ToyConNJ returns to Parsippany’s PAL building November 12-13, 2016. It will be another toy-land with new and returning vendors featuring the state’s largest collection of toys and memorabilia.
