Our fifth entry in our Beautiful Places in New Jersey feature is Prallsville Mills in Stockton, Hunterdon County, NJ.
Stockton is a charming little town that is known for the Stockton Inn, the charming and elegant Woolverton Inn Bed and Breakfast and one of the best wine shops in the region, Phillips Fine Wines. Stockton is located on Route 29 that runs from Trenton to Frenchtown. It is a short drive away from the funky boutiques and galleries of New Hope Pennsylvania and the marvelous antique stores of Lambertville. In the summer, Stockton is a popular starting point for many bicyclists that make the run to Frenchtown along Route 29 that features one of the best bicycle lanes in the region.
The photographs below were taken last fall on a clear crisp day without a cloud in the sky. The mill is located just north of the main street in Stockton. The Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park bike and hike path runs between the mill and the Delaware River. Prallsville Mills is the site of special events throughout the year with one of the best known events being a well respected antique show.
