Last summer, Somerset County lost a beloved member of its community; longtime Hillsborough resident Joseph David Hernandez died tragically on July 20, 2016, at the age of 23. Now, the foundation in his name honors the inspiration he continues to be.
This year, the Joseph David Hernandez Foundation is hosting an inaugural golf outing; to both commemorate Joseph’s legacy and continue the positive example he set.
The First Annual Joseph David Hernandez Foundation Golf Outing takes place Monday, July 10, 2017, at Neshanic Valley Golf Course; attendees can expect lunch, dinner, entertainment, prizes, and 18 beautiful holes of golf. The foundation is a local Not-for-Profit New Jersey State Chartered Corporation.
Players will arrive at 11:00 am for lunch and a putting contest. A shotgun start for all players then begins at 12:30 pm, with special prizes for winning foursomes. In addition, non-golfers can enjoy a dinner buffet between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, and all are welcome. Raffles, a silent auction, music, and live entertainment from world-class magicians are also a prominent part of the event. Individual Golfer and Dinner-Only tickets are available through Eventbrite.
The Joseph David Hernandez Foundation honors the legacy of a man who only lived 23 short years. As a martial arts and aquatic instructor, lifeguard, blood donor, and retirement home volunteer, Joseph made a tremendous impact on the lives of so many individuals in his community. Even in death, Joseph continues to change lives, serving as an organ donor who recently helped save the sight of a man in Michigan.
“Today, as we look back on Joe’s inspirational life, we’re motivated to help those in need, just as Joe did every single day,” said founding member Ryan MacCrea, who was also a very close friend of Joseph.
A Worthy Cause
The event serves as a fundraiser for the foundation, which purchases and distributes sports equipment for underprivileged children; in particular, those who turn to sports as a healthy and fulfilling outlet.
You can also mail donations to the Joseph David Hernandez Foundation at 27 Bloomingdale Drive, Suite 3A, Hillsborough, New Jersey 08844.
Golfers and dinner guests can look forward to a fun-filled day at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Somerset County on July 10 in support of a great cause!
