The Stone Pony Draws Year-Round Crowds to Jersey Shore

This article is Sponsored by The Stone Pony Summer Stage 2018.

The Stone Pony is a New Jersey institution known for launching the careers of local acts (read: Bruce Springsteen); it is, perhaps, equally well known for welcoming in a variety of bands from around the world. The popular venue, which sits just off the boardwalk in Asbury Park, draws in crowds year-round.

In fact, The Stone Pony remains one of NJ’s top music venues nearly five decades after opening its doors; whether guests are having a drink at the bar or taking in a show at the outdoor Summer Stage.

When it comes to live shows, The Stone Pony has something for fans of each and every genre to enjoy.

“That’s all thanks to the artists who choose to play The Stone Pony,” shared General Manager Caroline O’Toole. “There are music fans of every age for so many of our shows.”

The Summer Stage

The Stone Pony is an exciting venue to visit no matter what time of year it is; but summertime might be the best season to head to the venue.

“We work closely with our partners at Live Nation to bring a variety of every genre for every taste. There are so many fans also who simply come to a show because it is a great way to spend a summer evening.”

As for the fans in attendance, the folks at The Stone Pony can’t say enough good things about them. “The people who live [at] and visit the Jersey Shore are the best audience around,” O’Toole shared.

Visitors get to take in more than just the Jersey Shore boardwalk atmosphere. They also have the opportunity to catch a show at The Stone Pony Summer Stage.

The Summer Stage hosts huge crowds just feet from the Atlantic Ocean. Situated on a large lot behind The Stone Pony, there’s no better place to be on a warm summer night. Especially with its multiple bars and ample space to wander around as the band plays,

The 2018 Summer Stage lineup is nothing short of impressive. Acts include New Found Glory, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, Rise Against and Billy Currington.

From May through August, music fans can snag tickets and delight in a lively summer night on the Jersey Shore. (Best of NJ is even giving away a few Summer Stage season passes! Click here for your chance to win!)

The Legend of The Stone Pony

A big part of The Stone Pony’s legendary status comes from its prominent Springsteen connection.

“It is The Stone Pony who became famous because of Bruce, not the other way around,” O’Toole explained.

“Our city and our venue owe him so many thanks. His association with us has kept music fans coming here for decades, and there certainly seems to be no sign of that slowing down anytime soon.”

The Stone Pony also provides concertgoers with the perfect opportunity to plan a weekend away in Asbury Park. It helps that the venue is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, shops and boardwalk attractions.

Because of these new hotels and hip restaurants, The Stone Pony has lived on as a must-visit NJ landmark. And, for some artists, it has become a must-play venue as well.

“Almost every artist that comes through The Stone Pony, will either tell their audience why they wanted to play here or will pay tribute with a special New Jersey song,” shared O’Toole.
