Marshall and Decker: The NFL's Top Dynamic Duo

When we think of the greatest wide receiving duos in the history of the NFL, a few names come to mind. If I had to rank them, it would look something like this:
1) Jerry Rice and John Taylor (San Francisco 49ers)
2) Lynn Swann and John Stallworth (Pittsburgh Steelers)
3) Cris Carter and Randy Moss (Minnesota Vikings)
But, if last season is any indication, a new up-and-coming duo is looking to make the list. Last year, the Jets duo of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker broke the record held by Moss and Carter for most games where both receivers caught a touchdown pass. The previous record was 7, and the Jets wide receiving corps did it 8 times. It was an amazing accomplishment, considering the Jets were led by journeyman quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. What’s even more exciting is that, as good as this “dynamic duo” was last season, they should be better in 2016.

Marshall led the team in receptions (109), yards (1,502), average yards per catch (13.8) and touchdowns (14), while Decker had 80 receptions, 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns. The two, who are now affectionately known as “Batman and Robin,” are a perfect complement to one another on the field. Though neither WR has what you would consider elite speed, they both run precise routes and are not afraid to go over the middle and take a vicious hit to make a catch. Both Marshall and Decker have a tremendous work ethic and lead the team on the field and in practice by example.
No matter who the quarterback ends up being this year, the Jets duo should once again be the top combo in the NFL. With the acquisition of running back Matt Forte (who hauled in 102 receptions in 2014) and Tight End Jace Amaro coming off injuries, the Jets offense will likely be even better in 2016.

This is an exciting time for Jets fans. For the first time in decades, they have a team that can win both in low-scoring games with great defense and in shootouts by outscoring teams. I fully expect Marshall, Decker and Forte to all be considered for the Pro-Bowl. With one week left until training camp, expectations are very high.
