The owner of TweedleTee’s Candies & Curiosities in Verona wants to provide kids and adults alike with a sweet escape. The best validation for her candy shop so far? Overhearing a young child in the shop tell her mother, “Wow it’s like Willy Wonka’s in there.”
TweedleTee’s Candies & Curiosities is a certified women and minority-owned business run by Tanya Tauthong-Kass. The name is a spin-off of her wardrobe styling business, T Squared Creative. “TweedleTee’s is a way to pay homage to T Squared while tying together with Alice in Wonderland, my favorite childhood book.”

A World of My Own
It will come as no surprise that TweedleTee’s has an Alice in Wonderland theme. The shop provides “something for everyone,” with a variety of classic, nostalgic, novelty, and naturally dyed and flavored items. Tanya’s current favorite sweets include the Seattle Chocolate’s Malted Milk Ball Pint and JCoco’s Mango & Sticky Rice Chocolate Bar. She also loves the Bon Bon sour elderflower fish.
Meanwhile, her young daughters favor the freeze-dried candy from Brain Freeze and SlimeLickers from Toxic Waste. Speaking of kids, the shop hosts Tweedle Time Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. During this time, kids can enjoy discounted candy by the pound.

As for the “curiosities” at TweedleTee’s Candies & Curiosities, products include unique candles, stationery, and greeting cards.
About TweedleTee’s Candies & Curiosities
Tanya has lived in Verona with her family for six years. “I love the connection to the community and enjoy hearing feedback from the customers,” she says. “I often find customers coming in to chat with employees. I find it gratifying for TweedleTee’s to be a place of comfort and joy.”
Though now a candy shop owner, Tanya is a fashion stylist by trade. However, she endured two years of foot injuries that kept her from photoshoots for over six months at a time. Inspired by her daughters’ love of candy, she decided to open a candy shop.

Future plans include offering small craft classes as well as classes led by children for children. “I would like to help children inspire one another as my children inspired me,” Tanya explains.
