Besides custom tailoring, Alts (Alteration Specialists) offers traditional services like standard and bridal tailoring. They handle everything from jeans and blazers to intricate designer gowns or specialty fabrics like leather, fur, suede, and silk. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Alts already 14 other locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn. But the Hoboken location is their first foray into New Jersey.

“Alts has reimagined the tailoring experience,” says Courtney Poole, Sr. Marketing and Partnerships Associate. “We transform the tailoring experience, making it effortless, empowering, and exceptional so our customers feel ready for the moments that matter. We’re here to fix what’s broken in traditional alterations, making every interaction feel thoughtful, modern, and customer-first.”
At the moment, Alts is noticing a trend of people repurposing vintage and heirloom garments. “One of my personal favorite transformations is when a bride brings in her mother’s wedding dress to have it reimagined into a modern piece that reflects her own size and style,” Courtney describes. “It’s always a special moment.
The Alts team is made of industry-leading master tailors and seamstresses. Their tailors expertly handle a range of materials, including leather, denim, wool, fur, velvet, lace, bridal gown appliqué, and more. For example, they can alter a bridesmaid dress, winter coat, pant hem, menswear, bridal gown… the list goes on.

When looking to expand, Hoboken was the first place that came to mind thanks to its proximity to NYC. “Our studios feature beautiful, welcoming interiors, and we pair that with master tailors, exceptional customer service, and a seamless booking process. It’s tailoring with a modern touch,” Courtney says.
Alts was founded by brothers Jeremy and David Miller. While running their made-to-measure suit company, Label, they noticed a significant gap in the market for accessible, high-quality tailoring. They opened the first Alts in 2014.
Future plans include expanding into other suburban neighborhoods throughout the New York metropolitan area. “Our goal is to bring the Alts experience to even more communities that value craftsmanship, convenience, and style,” Courtney says. Customers can schedule either on-site or at-home appointments.
