As a child living in Clifton, Peter Kofitsas, MS, PT, was a talented athlete. He even earned a college football scholarship. However, he felt unhappy and was over 65 pounds overweight. Deciding to take control of his health, Peter began educating himself. Now, he passes that knowledge on to others as an author, leadership speaker, and life and health coach.
Peter earned a nutrition degree from Montclair State University and a Master of Science degree in physical therapy from New York Medical College. By blending nutrition and exercise, he lost his unwanted weight and has kept it off for 30 years. Today, he shares his story and imparts wisdom to corporate companies, schools, and virtual clients. “I help them look and feel amazing by focusing on food and fitness,” Peter says.

Engaging, Informative Public Speaking
Prior to becoming a professional leadership speaker, Peter first gave a lunch-and-learn presentation at a local company. “I was terrified the first time, but I loved it,” he admits. Then he began speaking more and more at companies. “I never met anyone who did what I did. I teach people how to be healthy and feel fulfilled. It makes sense to me to enjoy yourself and have good health,” he explains. Peter’s clients include GE, Goldman Sachs, KPMG, Chase, and Verizon.
Besides corporations, Peter also hosts presentations at schools throughout the tristate area. He’ll do his presentation before school starts in the summer, or during professional development or wellness days. “Schools want teachers to take care of themselves,” he says. They want them not to feel burned out and feel fulfilled at work.”

He even has a way to integrate his passion for cooking into his presentations. For example, Peter does a live cooking demo, bringing a hot plate and recipe ingredients. Audience members help him cook and even get to sample the food (depending on the size of the group). “It’s another way to connect with people. It really engages them,” he explains. Expert Fitness & Nutrition Advice
Peter always advocates for eating as whole as possible. That means eating fruits, vegetables, and grass-fed beef for better health. He encourages people to learn cooking basics like how to chop an onion, cut an avocado, or sweat an onion. “That’s the foundation of building any meal. Using fresh ingredients is healthier and cheaper, too,” he says.
A self-taught cook with Greek heritage, Peter frequently turns others on to lamb. He loves that lamb has a healthy fat profile and goes well with vegetables. Cooking is also a way to spend time with his three kids and his family. He even hosts cook-offs where the kids plan a menu while he supervises their meal prepping.

To stay in shape, the Hillsdale resident spends his weekends competing in Tough Mudders and Spartan Races with friends. He participates in races across the area, from Mountain Creek to Pennsylvania and upstate New York. Whenever he does a group fitness activity, he encourages others to sign up with him. “I try to get a group together to build camaraderie. I love showing people they can have a great time while exercising.”
