The Wing Kitchen Flies South to Glassboro

Wing lovers are in luck. The Wing Kitchen, a tasty wing spot already finding success in Washington Township, now has a second location in Glassboro. The 900-square foot space is run by Food Network Chopped champion Timothy Witcher. Boasting “the best wings in the tri-state,” there’s also a second menu item guests can’t get enough of.

But more on that in a bit. Witcher is a South Jersey native who loves taking his family out to try new places. However, he noticed his area lacked a top notch wing place. Now, he’s aiming to fill that gap. The Wing Kitchen offers counter service at its fast casual eatery, as well as takeout and catering options. You’ll have to get there early to grab a seat though, as the place only seats 24 inside; in addition, during warmer weather, the outdoor seating area fits 16. Inside, you’ll notice wall décor from Glassboro High School and Rowan University. This is to emphasize and celebrate the local community, Witcher says.

The menu boasts one-of-a-kind chicken wings; Witcher slow roasts them with a blend of special seasoning before grilling them over open coals or deep frying them. Sauce options range from classic Buffalo to Spicy Garlic Parmesan to Sesame Ginger and more. But it’s his special approach to wings that sets The Wing Kitchen apart from the flock.

“As a professional chef, I’ve run restaurant and banquet kitchens, encountering staff from across the globe,” says Witcher. “Working with these cooks and chefs gave me an appreciation for a variety of ingredients and an understanding of unfamiliar flavor combinations. The Wing Kitchen concentrates on fresh ingredients and embraces authentic flavors that transcend the chicken wing.”

Even those who don’t enjoy wings can find something to love. They also serve buttermilk fried chicken tenders, crispy fried cauliflower, and fresh-cut fries with flavor combos and gourmet sauces. “The first few bites will excite,” says Witcher. “Licking those salty spices and sweet and savory sauces off the fingers is what will keep you coming back.” Click here to see the full menu.

However, it’s that second menu item mentioned earlier that might make this your new favorite… dessert spot!? The Wing Kitchen also specializes in Buttermilk fried donuts. These store-bought, glazed doughnuts are dipped in buttermilk and dredged in flour, then seasoned with garlic, onion, and chili. After that, they get the deep fry treatment until golden brown. Finally, they top the donuts with powdered sugar and serve them with salted caramel dipping sauce.
