South Jersey Bakeries
Featured from Camden County:
Sweet Eats Bakery

Where: 310 S Burnt Mill Rd, Voorhees
Details: Despite the street name, everything at Sweet Eats Bakery is baked to perfection. This family business – started by Marge Davidowich in 1987 – specializes in wedding, birthday, and special occasion cakes. The bakery takes pride in using only the freshest, real ingredients to create over 50 different types of fillings for their cakes. This includes their signature white chocolate cream mixed with chocolate chips, alongside unique buttercream designs to match any vision. Besides these special occasion cakes, Sweet Eats offers a daily assortment of cakes, cookies, pies, and pastries available for purchase. Their display case is brimming with cheesecakes, chocolate silk cakes, daily specials like Butterfinger cake, chocolate-covered pretzels, and more. With so many options it’s tough to choose a favorite, but we recommend trying their Raspberry Cream or Oreo Cheesecake. If ordering a custom cake for a special occasion, the bakery asks for at least 3-4 weeks’ notice. This allows the team to craft a cake that captures each client’s imagination.

Century Bakery
Where: Bridgeton
Details: Some of the most popular items at Century Bakery are their signature fries. No, not French fries, but fried donuts. These “flakey,” chewy fried pastries are donuts swirled with cinnamon and come with a variety of icings. Options include vanilla iced, half and half iced (vanilla and chocolate), coconut, buttercream, lemon, powdered, and more. They also make treats like crullers, honeymooners (donut dough topped with fruit pie filling and vanilla icing), and sticky bars, plus seasonal favorites like Apple Cider Donuts.
JB Bakery
Where: Burlington
Details: JB Bakery has so many different cake flavors, it can feel overwhelming at first. But the good news is, current owner Stephen Simon is guaranteed to have something for everyone. (He purchased the business from John & Bill — the “JB” in JB Bakery — over a decade ago.) Chocolate lovers should go for the Four Times Chocolate Fudge Cake or classic German Chocolate; while vanilla cake fans can enjoy the Strawberry Shortcake, Funfetti Birthday Cake, or Cannoli Cake slices. We’re also a fan of the Peanut Butter Chocolate Turtle.
L & M Bakery
Where: Delran
Details: Positive word-of-mouth attracts locals and travelers alike to L & M Bakery. The family-owned bakeshop has been serving their famous selection of custom cakes and pastries for over 60 years. In particular, this is one of the area’s best spots for traditional one or two-filling Babka. The full menu includes cookies, pies, donuts, and cupcakes, in addition to their selection of cakes. Pound cake fans are especially in luck, as L & M bakes a unique pound cake with whipped cream. (Different from a traditional Whipping Cream pound cake.)
Stella Baking Company
Where: Sewell
Details: Christine & Mark, the owners of Stella Baking Company, are popular throughout the South Jersey and Philadelphia area. Their custom cakes are true works of art, bursting with colors and flavors that are impossible to forget. While the bakery primarily offers custom cakes, their online bake shop has an assortment of ever-changing treats. Options range from cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, and crumb cakes to their Jersey famous Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies. In particular, the Confetti Cream Cheese cupcakes are a must-try.
Sweet T’s Bakeshop
Where: Haddonfield
Details: Baked goods and custom cakes are the calling cards of Sweet T’s Bakeshop. Their unique menu mixes traditional sweets with options like salted caramel bars, French macaroons, flourless cakes, and quiches. Of course, their collection of cookies, scones, muffins, cream puffs, and bundt cakes are also local favorites. Sweet T’s custom cakes are perfect for any special occasion, from smaller birthday cakes to towering, multi-tier wedding cakes. Given that Sweet T’s excels at cake making, it’s no surprise we recommend their cake bombs.
Sweetsboro Pastry Shoppe
Where: Swedesboro
Details: The name of this bakery is, of course, a play on their hometown. Sweetsboro stands out for baking homemade treats that not only taste great, but have a beautiful presentation. Their cupcakes are bright and colorful, their cookies come in fun shapes, and their custom cakes are always eye-catching. Standout desserts include chocolate mousse tarts, mini cheesecakes, apple strudel, and their gourmet cupcakes. The latter comes in flavors like Turtle, Oreo, and S’mores. Their dipped brownies and cheese cakes are a must-try.
The Quaker Baker
Where: Carneys Point
Details: The danger of The Quaker Baker is stopping in for breakfast and thinking you’re only going to order a bagel. In reality, you can expect to walk away with a breakfast sandwich (like the Everything Egg, Veggie, and Cheese); a lemon tart or personal cheesecake; a dozen cinnamon rolls; a cheesecake stuffed brownie; and a half dozen Cinnamon Sugar Knots. Or maybe that’s just us. Stop by before closing (typically around 3pm Thursday to Sunday) and pick up a Tomato Pie for lunch or dinner.
The Willow’s Wisp
Where: Salem
Details: Willow’s Wisp — the bakery formerly known a Garden State Cakes — serves NJ, Delaware, and parts of Philadelphia. They are primarily known for their custom cakes, specializing in both Swiss Buttercream and traditional Fondant cakes. As for their bakery section, patrons flock to them for bear claws, crumb cake, turnovers, Rum Apple Strudel (Sundays only), and an assortment of fresh bread. In particular, their flavored sandwich breads like Old Bay Cheddar and Pesto Parmesan are absolutely essential take home options.
Two Sweet Boutique
Where: Sewell
Details: The homemade pastries at Two Sweet Boutique are so popular, the team had to move to a bigger kitchen! Their new location — still in Sewell/Washington Township — is open and baking their signature cookies, monkey bread, and more. One of the perks of their new location? They are able to keep their fan-favorite cinnamon rolls stocked daily. Aside from the cookies and the cinnamon rolls, there’s one other item longtime patrons go wild for: Two Sweet’s signature banana pudding. Think you’re not a fan? You will be.
