The 10 Best
North Jersey Pizzerias
Featured From Hudson County:
One World Pizza

Where: 49 Baldwin Ave, Jersey City
Details: One World Pizza — recently named one of Food & Wine’s 9 Hottest New Pizzerias in the US — puts the world on dough. From Korean Bulgogi Pizza with a kimchi base to Elote with huitlacoche, this McGinley Square spot translates global dishes into chef-driven pies. (We also recommend the North African lamb shank with a harissa sun-dried tomato sauce.) When it comes to dine-in service, patrons have two options. The pizzeria itself houses the ovens and an intimate four-seat Chef’s Table, available exclusively by reservation on Resy. (Note: Reservations for The Chef’s Table will resume in Fall 2026.) For traditional table service and access to the full menu, guests can visit The Wanderer next door (53 Baldwin Ave). The Wanderer serves as the main dining room for One World Pizza, complete with wine and cocktails from their full service bar. Dinner service is available daily from 5pm – 10:30 pm.

Angeloni’s Restaurant and Pizzeria
Location: Caldwell
Details: This local landmark is famous for their Thinny Thin pie. A paper thin, well done pie topped with crispy cheese that runs straight to the edges, this is the ultimate treat for pizza lovers who don’t eat their crusts. (They also make a gluten free, cauliflower crust version.) For another unique option, try Nicky Boy’s Italian Style Hot Dog. This specialty pie features potato, peppers, onions, and hot dogs to create an unexpected flavor profile. We’re also a fan of their Margherita with homemade mozzarella, plum tomatoes, EVOO, and fresh basil.
Bucky’s Pizza
Location: Chatham
Details: Bucky’s humbly self professes to serve “Real Good Pizza,” but the truth is it’s better than good. Their pies are the product of over 100 years of family recipes, resulting in authentic old world techniques and flavors. The menu includes Detroit-style square pies, NY-style round pies (16 inch), and their fan favorite Grandma pie. If going for a Detroit-style pie, the Hot Honey, Pepperoni, & Ricotta pizza is a must-try. For round pies, their Shallots and Long Hots pizza is a great choice. Be sure to review their ordering guidelines for online orders.
Casano’s Pizza Parlor
Where: Rutherford
Details: Casano’s unique dining area recreates a 70s living room and invites patrons to eat together and socialize like family. Everything about the pizzeria feels homey; from the armchairs and vintage refrigerator full of glass soda bottles, to the TV with VCR playing classic movies. Though Chef Dave Ligas prepares many delicious pies — from the Round Vodka Stracciatella to the unique French Onion pie — their New Haven Tomato Pie is a must-try. The “random” cuts that create uneven slices add to the authenticity of its namesake.
Coniglio’s Old Fashioned
Location: Morristown
Details: You’d have to travel outside New Jersey to find someone who doesn’t know about Nino Conglio. The Brooklyn-born master pizza maker is a character whose reputation for authentic pies done right permeates throughout New Jersey. Though he now oversees multiple pizzerias — including his latest in Asbury Park, Coniglio’s King of Pies — Coniglio’s Old Fashioned will always be his baby. For first-timers, we recommend ordering either the Vodka Stracciatella, Josephina’s Grandma, or Upside Down Sicilian pies.
Corner Slice
Location: Maplewood
Details: Corner Slice brings back the classic slice joints of yesteryear, offering a casual place to meet up with friends. Formerly a beloved New York destination, the owners decided to come back home to New Jersey and reopen in Maplewood. (Where they first found success operating a different business, The Bread Stand.) Their famous New York Square Pie boasts a light, crispy crust and doesn’t need much in the way of toppings. But if the classic cheese pie isn’t adventurous enough for you, we recommend adding some house sausage.
Lido Restaurant
Location: Hackensack
Details: There will be some debate over which Hackensack pizzeria should be on this list. The difference really comes down to pie preference, and Lido is the go-to spot in town for thin crust. Their curated pizza menu offers just a handful of specialty pies; while the vodka pie and buffalo chicken pie are excellent choices, we highly recommend the French Onion pie. But truthfully, their classic cheese pie is more than enough flavor to stand on its own. Besides pizza, they also serve their world famous open sliced steak sandwich.
Natale’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza
Location: Gilette
Details: A community staple for over 45 years, Natale’s is the area’s trusted pizzeria for round pies. They offer thin crust and Sicilian pizzas as well, but their classic pies are the star of the menu. They only offer a couple specialty pies — a Chicken and a Veggie — so the real appeal is building your own. We recommend their classic cheese pie with fresh mushrooms, sausage, and green pepper. If you want to revisit a classic 90s pie, you can build your own taco pizza with ground beef, peppers, onion, tomato, and extra cheese.
Nellie’s Place
Location: Waldwick
Details: Another thin crust knockout, Nellie’s Place is the area’s must try bar pie. This 12″ masterpiece is extra thin, crispy, and bursting with rich flavor. While their bar pie is the thing to get, they have plenty of specialty 14″ pies as well. Standouts include the Arugula Salad Pie (with crumbled bleu cheese, red onion & tomato); Buffalo Chicken Special (with hot sauce, ranch dressing, and celery); and our top pick, the Rigatoni Plum Tomato Basil, with mozzarella and ricotta dollops. They also offer gluten free cheese pizza.
Reservoir Tavern
Location: Boonton
Details: Back in 1936, Nicola Bevacqua opened Reservoir Tavern to provide patrons with his expertise in authentic Italian cooking. While the appetizer and entree menus are full of traditional delights, no trip is complete without ordering a pizza. Their homemade crust and sauce is enough flavor to not require any additional toppings. However, they still offer a mix of classic, premium, and deluxe toppings ranging from ham and bolognese to grilled chicken. We recommend the Danno’s Pie with baked shrimp in vodka sauce.
