Fiorentini

Where: 98 Park Ave, Rutherford
Details: Fiorentini is where authentic Italian cooking meets true farm-to-table dining. Chef and owner Antonio De Ieso brings the traditions, flavors, and simplicity of his Italian roots to Rutherford, letting the farms and seasons of New Jersey shape what arrives on the plate. Chef Antonio’s seasonal menu pairs local meats and produce with carefully-selected products imported directly from Italy. The result is authentic Italian cooking that unlocks the full potential of each exceptional ingredient. Fiorentini’s menu showcases handmade pastas, seasonal vegetables, seafood, meats, housemade desserts, gelati, and sorbet. It goes far beyond farm-to-table, seamlessly synergizing the relationship between the kitchen, the farmer, and the season. For a more intimate experience, their Chef’s Table seats four guests for a multi-course tasting. This is Italian cooking meant to be enjoyed, shared, and remembered.

Alba Italian Grill
Where: Hillsdale
Details: Alba is a classic Italian dining experience, from the menu to the family-owned hospitality. While the restaurant is fairly new — first opening in late 2025 — owner Agim Kortoci has no shortage of restaurant experience. From date night to family dinner or special occasions, Alba has menu options for every outing. Locals love their Lunch Prefix Special, which comes with a choice of appetizer and entree plus coffee or hot tea. As for dinner, we recommend the Chicken Sorrentino, which pairs well with their wine and cocktail selection.
Bar Mutz
Where: Westwood
Details: Bar Mutz is a hip and trendy take on Italian dining by Chef Robbie Felice. (The restaurateur behind pastaRAMEN, Osteria Crescendo, and Viaggio Ristorante.) This unique take on Italian cuisine is headlined by their fresh mozzarella, burrata, and stracciatella, all handmade daily on site. The playful yet approachable menu pairs perfectly with the Brooklyn-style lounge vibe and upbeat music that fills Bar Mutz. Their signature Mozzarella Sticks Di Bar Mutz with hot honey are a must-try, alongside the Samoa Cookie Cheesecake dessert.
Casa Bellisima
Where: Sparta
Details: The cuisine at Casa Bellissima is effortlessly stylish to match the casual polo and jeans atmosphere. The menu takes classic Italian favorites and gives them a modern twist. Executive Chef Michael Penaranda diligently curates signature dishes that leave guests thinking about their meal long after they leave. Menu favorites include the lobster ravioli, blackened salmon, chicken rollatini (stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella), and veal marsala. Sitting at the bar? We recommend the Parmesan truffle fries and seasonal burger!
Clementina
Where: Upper Montclair
Details: Clementina brings the flavors of Senigallia straight to Montclair. Chef Michele Rocchi hails from the resort town of Senigallia, located within Le Marche, Italy. Though the menu is rooted in tradition — Chef Rocchi has been cooking since he was 14 years old — his dishes offer a fresh, modern take on classic cooking. Clementina prioritizes organic, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, bringing the flavors of New Jersey to familiar Italian dishes. Must-try dishes include the Tagliatelle with Shellfish and Chicken al Potacchio (a Le Marche specialty).
Cotto
Where: Morristown
Details: This elevated Italian restaurant is a fan favorite for its handmade pastas and innovative approach to classic cuisine. The chef-driven BYO perfectly balances tradition and creativity to create refined yet approachable regional Italian dishes. We recommend starting with the potato leek croquettes before ordering the simply must-try Linguine Amatriciana. (Made with calamari and squid ink.) The soft lighting, white tablecloths, and exquisite service all make for one of our favorite North Jersey Date Night Spots.
Mama’s Cafe Baci
Where: Hackettstown
Details: Mama’s is a two-for-one, combining the restaurant Mama’s with their cozy Cafe Baci. The restaurant is popular for their Pizza, calzones, and strombolis as well as their authentic pasta dishes. Popular classic pastas include cheese tortellini alfredo, baked ziti, and lasagna. In addition, they serve specialty pastas like Pear & Gorgonzola, Champagne Palma, and Vesuvio. The latter combines penne with mushrooms, peas, and bacon in a creamy rosa sauce. Besides dine-in options, they offer takeout, pickup, and curbside delivery.
Ora
Where: Oradell
Details: Ora’s moniker has two distinct, equally-important meanings. Of course, it pays homage to the town where the restaurant is located. But Ora also means “now” in Italian, which is important because ORA’s menu lives in the now, not the past. Their menu sits at the intersection between traditional Italian and New American cuisine. For instance, their Caviar Cannoli is a starter, not a dessert. This unique cannoli is made with parmigiano, filled with a chive-whipped mascarpone, and finished with royal ossetra caviar.
Razza
Where: Jersey City
Details: Razza offers award-winning pizza with a thin eggshell-like outer crust, artisan cheeses, and fresh ingredients. Pizza chef and Co-owner Dan Richer crafts mouth-watering favorites that rotate based on seasonality and availability. Popular pies include the Jersey Margherita, Potato Pie, La Rossa, and the Di Natale. In addition to pizza, Razza serves meatballs, daily and seasonal specials, craft cocktails, and homemade breads and desserts. We recommend starting with the Ricotta Meatballs and then going for the Burrata Pizza.
