The 10 Best
Jersey Shore Diners

Americana Diner

Where: Shrewsbury
Details: The Americana boasts that classic huge diner menu veteran NJ diner patrons expect. From endless breakfast selections — including benedicts, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, bagels, and more — to salads, burgers, and triple-decker clubs. (They have over 25 sandwich options alone.) Add in a classic milkshake or one of their famous desserts — we recommend the lemon meringue pie — and there truly is something for everyone. For a late night bite on a cold night, nothing hits the spot quite like their Chicken Bacon Tomato Melt.

Broad Street Diner

Where: Keyport
Details: There is more than one Broad Street Diner in New Jersey. Though the names are identical, the diners are unrelated to each other. The Keyport-based Broad Street Diner is popular for its authentic diner experience. That means wall-to-wall memorabilia, a black-and-white color scheme, and quick service. In fact, the only “un-diner-ish” thing about them is that they close early (ending service at 3:00 pm Sunday – Wednesday, and 8:00 pm from Thursday-Saturday). For a sweet morning treat, try the Dutch Apple Pancakes!

Dino’s Seaville Diner

Where: Seaville
Details: Dino’s is rapidly approaching their 50 year anniversary, first opening in 1977. This classic diner is open seven days a week from 7:30am to 8pm. One thing in particular that sets this diner apart from the rest is their robust seafood menu. Dino’s offers a huge variety of fried and broiled shrimp, flounder, scallops, salmon, crab cakes, and more. Not to mention sauteed options like Shrimp Scampi, Clams & Spaghetti, Shrimp Fra Diablo, and nearly two dozen seafood combos. We also recommend the Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak!

Dockside Diner

Where: North Beach Haven (aka Long Beach)
Details: For breakfast all day or dinner after 4pm, Dockside Diner is the place to be. Their selection of egg platters, omelettes, and Benedicts will satisfy any egg-thusiast. We are big fans of the Breakfast Nachos: crispy tortillas chips with scrambled eggs, tomato, chorizo, pepper jack, and cheddar. For lunch or dinner, their Cajun Mahi Sandwich offers a unique option. It pairs grilled mahi mahi and cajun mayo spread with sauteed spinach and roasted cherry tomatoes on 7-grain bread. Add a Cookie Butter Blend milkshake and thank us later!

Four Seasons Diner

Where: Toms River
Details: The Four Seasons boasts being the only diner along the Jersey Shore that has a full-size brick oven. What do they need it for? To make brick-oven pizza and oversized calzones, of course! Their large selection of pizza pies includes standouts like Pulled Pork, BBQ Chicken, and Penne Alla Vodka. Their signature Four Seasons pie features fresh mozzarella, plum tomato, pepperoni, artichokes, mushrooms, and Kalamata olives. Keeping with the theme, their signature Pizza Burger is also a winner, with homemade marinara and mozzarella.

JJ’s Diner

Where: Egg Harbor Township
Details: This true mom-and-pop spot is a cozy little diner that definitely qualifies as a hidden gem. So it will shock anyone who’s never heard of it that JJ’s is one of New Jersey’s top breakfast spots. From their Steak & Eggs and Breakfast Quesadilla to their Creamed Chipped Beef, it’s hard to decide what to eat. The good news is, there are no bad choices. Pancakes, waffles, and omelettes round out the breakfast menu, but JJ’s also serves lunch sandwiches, wraps, and quesadillas. They close daily at 4pm, so they don’t offer dinner service.

Larry’s 50’s Diner

Where: Tuckahoe
Details: Larry’s 50’s Diner is a time capsule from a bygone era. Walking inside for the first time feels like being on a Hollywood set. When the rest of the world pictures what a diner looks like, they picture Larry’s. The memorabilia consists of Betty Boop decals, Elvis Presley statues, Marilyn Monroe photos, and other similar decor. Made to feel and look like a classic dining car, Larry’s 50’s is transportive in atmosphere but modern in flavor. For instance, the rotating menu offers options like Pizza Cheese Steak, homemade mac n cheese, and crab cakes.

New Monmouth Diner

Where: Middletown
Details: Locals frequent New Monmouth Diner for restaurant-quality American cuisine at diner prices. That means menu favorites like the Chicken Milanese Panini, Memphis Burger (with BBQ pulled pork), and Blue Plate Classics entrees. But our favorite dinner just might be the Eggplant Genovese Tower, layered with ham, roasted peppers, spinach, and melted mozzarella. (Served over linguine in a light marinara.) Of course, they still have all those classic dinner apps, from mac and cheese bites to wings and mozzarella sticks.

Rainbow Diner

Where: Brick Township
Details: Rainbow Diner devotes their menu to both sweet and savory options. For example, their Wake Up Wrap mixes scrambled eggs with ham, American cheese, onions, and jalapenos in a tortilla. Then there’s the French Toast Parisienne, deep-fried French toast sticks with honey and powdered sugar. Their kids menu stands out with creative names like Ninja Turtles (grilled cheese), Super Mario (chicken fingers), and Snoopy’s Delight (spaghetti and meatballs). Patrons also love their milkshakes and homemade bread pudding.

Silver Coin Diner

Where: Hammonton
Details: The Sliver Coin used to be a beacon of late-night dining for folks passing through Hammonton. The diner’s hours have since been cut to 6am-10pm daily. But we’re holding out hope they will one day get back to being open past midnight. Their classic diner menu features favorites like chicken fingers, cheese steak egg rolls, and Fried Jumbo Buffalo Shrimp. Likewise, their Angus beef California and South of the Border burgers are always fan favorites. We recommend the Black & Blue Burger, with zesty black seasoning and blue cheese.
