There are few foods as popular as chicken wings. Rashaan Taylor, owner of Taylor Wings in Merchantville, knows this firsthand. He’s been experimenting with wings and sauces for years. So when it came time to open his own restaurant, he knew exactly what food he would be prominently featuring.
Taylor Wings is a 525-square-foot takeout only eatery. The simple and clean design features black walls, wooden floors, and silver appliances. “We’ve incorporated touches of greenery and adorned the space with positive quotes; to create a motivating atmosphere for ourselves every day,” Rashaan says. He owns the restaurant alongside his wife, Marlene.

Tastes Like Chicken
When guests arrive at Taylor Wings, they place their order at the window. A buzzer notifies patrons when their order is ready. The restaurant also offers pickup options, so customers can order ahead online.
Popular menu items include wings, chicken sandwiches, and cauliflower wings (which are vegetarian). Taylor Wings offers multiple sauce options, with fan-favorite flavors being Sweet Buffalo, Garlic Butter Old Bay, and Honey Chipotle. But new sauces will rotate in every so often, as Rashaan loves experimenting with flavors. They also have an array of fries including plain, garlic parm, cheese, vegan cheese, and Cajun. Rashaan uses separate fryers for vegan and non-vegan items.
Rashaan and Marlene both love the Southern fried cauliflower wings, classic chicken wings, and signature Taylor Wings chicken sandwich. They dip all three in house-made batter, coat them in house-made seasoned flour, and fry them for crispiness.
About the Business
Taylor Wings was born in Rashaan and Marlene’s home kitchen. But Rashaan has loved cooking since childhood, and remembers watching his family prepare meals at their home in Queens. During high school, friends would taste-test his wing sauces and ask him to cater their parties with wings.
Meanwhile, Marlene has always dreamed of being a business owner. But chicken wings were a departure from the meals she enjoyed during her upbringing. “We were accustomed to eating traditional Spanish dishes on a day-to-day-basis,” she recalls of her Latina roots. After meeting Rashaan, her culinary horizons soon expanded to include his unique wings and sauces. Now, she oversees every aspect of Taylor Wings, blending her business passion with his culinary expertise.
