The Abbassi brothers are on a mission to fill a specific restaurant void in Lodi. This is their primary reason for opening Stand Up Pies, a spot that serves pizza, dessert pies, and much more. The restaurant is open late, and makes everything in-house to ensure freshness.
Stand Up Pies – or SUP, as the owners say – does not have a dining room. Instead, they have a high-top counter that seats five at full capacity. Meanwhile, outdoor sidewalk seating fits 12 guests. Despite the small selection of seating, they put a lot of thought into the interior design. “The décor is a cross between industrial and vintage,” says co-founder Adil Abbassi. For instance, they feature a 1967 Harley Davidson and a 1972 Fiat 500 imported from Italy. “It was driven by our love of antiquing and vintage vehicle collection,” Adil adds.

Pizza, Milkshakes, Dessert, & More
The menu at Stand Up Pies features handcrafted recipes that are rooted in tradition. Everything is made fresh, whether it is a seasonal or signature item. “We open at 4:00 pm, which allows us to prepare all of our food fresh during the day,” Adil says. “We make small batches of our specialty items. So, we may sell out before the end of the night.” Click here to see the full menu.
Their mega menu contains classics such as artisan pizzas, pastas, subs, salads, wings, and burgers; as well as milkshakes and dessert cookie pies. At the moment, fan favorites include the mac ‘n’ Cheetos bites. These housemade mac and cheese balls are dusted with Flaming Hot Cheetos, served with either housemade vodka sauce or queso. Meanwhile, the Bella burger is a vegetarian burger made with a chipotle black bean patty; it comes with portabella mushroom, havarti cheese, avocado spread, lettuce, tomato, red onions, in addition to their specialty SUP sauce.
Stand Up Guys Making Stand Up Pies
Though it’s hard to choose a favorite pizza, Adil says he loves their classic Grandma pizza. “It’s simple, fresh, and only has five ingredients (sweet plum tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, grated pecorino romano),” he explains. “Yet it’s packed with flavor to have you going for that second slice.”
But don’t be surprised if your favorite menu item is from the dessert section. You can order signature desserts like the Nutella cookie pie whole or by the slice. They take fresh-baked cookie dough and stuff it with a layer of Nutella and bananas, topped with Nutella drizzle. “It’s a perfect dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings,” Adil says.
