Mishtaan Creates Homemade Upscale Indian Sweets in Harrison

The word Mishtaan means sweetness or sweets in both the Rajasthani and Bengali languages. Hence, the owners of Mishtaan feel it’s the perfect name for their spot in Harrison. The moniker represents cultural heritage and authenticity, similar to the quality of their homemade, upscale Indian sweets, chaat, and food.

After examining all of NJ’s options, the owners realized no one was making fresh Indian sweets with quality ingredients. This surprised them, because In India, sweets aren’t just desserts: They represent childhood nostalgia and Indian cultural pride. At Mishtaan, they prioritize the importance of quality and authenticity in each and every dish.

Inside, the shop feels like a vintage Indian sweets shop. However, they have a modern approach to sustainability. Under the thoughtful guidance of Executive Designer & Environmental Activist, Vini Rathaur, Mishtaan is using Bio-Degradable dining materials and is on track to become completely Eco-Friendly by 2024.
