To those who knew them, Judy and Harry were always the life of the party. A couple married for over 50 years, their daughter now immortalizes their memory at a new restaurant in Asbury Park. Aptly named Judy & Harry’s, the Italian restaurant and bar inside the St. Laurent reflects their upbeat and fun life.
Actually two concepts in one, Judy’s offers comforting Italian classics with international flair and local flavor. It is the main restaurant of the two, whereas Harry’s is a cocktail bar right next door. Both Judy & Harry’s are run by David Vianna, a James Beard-nominated chef, and Neilly Robinson (their aforementioned daughter). Neilly is also owner and managing director of Back and Forth Hospitality.

Two Concepts, One Great Experience
The 2,500-square-foot Judy’s can seat 50 guests. Signature menu items include chicken and broccoli gnudi with celery pesto, and Judy’s matzo ball soup with ricotta matzo balls. However, the chili crunch lobster arrabbiata is Neilly’s favorite. As for the cocktail menu, popular picks include the Garden Gimlet. It comes with gin, basil eau de vie, dry vermouth, and tomato cordial. “It’s simple but packed with flavor,” Neilly says. Meanwhile, the martini menu serves up unique options like the Vesper and the Gibson, along with mocktails and wine.
Then, right next door to Judy’s is the 1,500-square foot Harry’s, which seats 74. They serve drinks and small bites perfect for before or after dinner, or as a destination all its own. Locals already love the bellini and pina colada options. Signature drinks include Harry’s Manhattan (rye, vermouth, benedictine, bitters) and Bitter Harry (tahini cynar, vermouth, whiskey). Food selections range from mozzarella in carrozza to crab seafood arancini. They even host a reverse happy hour from 10:00 pm until Midnight.

Desserts options showcase Italian treats with a twist, and can be eaten in either location. Signature choices include Judy’s carrot cake and tiramisu. In addition, they offer a rotating selection of sorbet and gelato in flavors like carrot ginger, chocolate, and malted coffee.
About The Owners
Before Judy & Harry’s, Neilly and David operated Heirloom at the St. Laurent. A native to the area, Neilly believes Asbury Park “has been underserved, from a culinary and cocktail standpoint. But her and David aim to change that.
